Lovely, spacious and interesting accomodation for 4; excellent location in Tuscan countryside (although only good view from inside house from shower room); great access for Siena and Chianti towns; good local restaurant. Beautiful gardens for relaxing, and great pool. Kitchen equipment OK, but would have preferred electric kettle and toaster. Main drawback was patio area; access via very steep outside staircase proved tiring re need to carry food/drinks/glasses/crockery etc for every meal/snack for 2 weeks. Of particular concern, patio area did not, as described in brochure, feel very private. As directly in front of wine tasting room, lots of visitors milling around, and our "private" patio used regularly, mainly by guides/drivers I think, for smoking and telephone conversations. Unfortunately, my husband was unwell during most of our holiday, as a result of which we stayed around the property more than planned, hence more aware of patio issues. He did however enjoy and benefit from sitting reading in lovely garden under umbrella. Many thanks for your help.
Mrs. J.H. and family, UK staying in Sangiovese. The villa and location were everything we wanted them to be. Radicondoli is a beautiful place, full of character and charm and the villa is ideally placed to enjoy the local sights, shops and restaurants. Claudio was so helpful and we loved his generous gifts of wine, olive oil and tomatoes. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.
Mrs. B.Y., UK staying in Ragnana. Sep 2024Second time visiting Ragnana - perfect host, perfect location. central to explore Tuscany if you want to but if you crave the rest and relaxation this is the place for you.
As always Claudio is there to greet you along with home grown Olive Oil and Wine! if you are really good he will even let you have some Pomodoro for the best salad in the world!
Will always go back to Ragnana
Justin & family staying in Ragnana. Aug 2024Vidunderligt gensyn med fantastiske Villa Ragnana og charmerende Radicondoli. Vi var her også sidste år og kommer forhåbentlig igen.
Henriette from Denmark staying in Ragnana.
Line from Denmark staying in Ragnana. Jul 2024Really lovely villa. The interior is rustic but very clean and comfortable. The pool and terrace are great with fabulous views over the valley, with raised external eating area with views. Claudio the caretaker is lovely and helpful. He tends the garden and pool regularly - the garden and plants are wonderful.
The village is a 5 minute walk away with 3 good restaurants and two bars. There is a COOP, bakery, butcher and pharmacy. Very sociable and welcoming village.
Roads in this area of Tuscany are quite windy, and so travel is slow and so the nearest supermarkets are 30 minutes away. Downsides (dependent on what you want) are poor wifi coverage and very limited TV.
Iolo and family staying in Ragnana. Jul 2024The house is located on at hill top in walking distance to charming small city with all necessities (market, bakery, butcher, gelato). The house is located with an idyllic view and Claudio, the owner, is the most helpful soul. We would love to return!
Frida & family from Denmark staying in Ragnana. Jun 2024We loved the farmhouse. The pool was great and the whole setting was kept immaculate by Claudia who was a star. He was discreet in keeping pool area and gardens clean and helpful with any other queries. Thanks for the olive oil and wine! The location was excellent and 5 mins from Radicondoli - easy walk- which had 3 good standard restaurants and a bar which had very reasonably priced drinks sitting amongst the locals. The farmhouse was very well equipped and although rustic was charming. Head out the back past the pool and you are amongst the olive groves and garden allotments and some nice quiet tracks around the countryside. Would definitely recommend. We didn’t have a car and that was fine as the village had everything. Would recommend one for access to other hilltop villages though.
Jennie & Stuart from UK staying in Ragnana. Jun 2024Fantastisk ferie i charmerende Villa Ragnana. Smukkeste udsigt.
Henriette & family from Denmark staying in Ragnana. Jul 2023We loved Ragana in Radicondoli. The villa is typical old style tuscany villa which adds to the charm was huge (4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms), clean and with all modern appliances. The grounds are large and maintained well by Claudio - the owner, who is a most helpful and pleasant host. The private pool was excellent and with many lounges and tables etc. The villa is situated on the outskirts of the village and adjacent to the owner's working olive farm.
Kevan B and family staying in Ragnana. Jun 2023Me and my family including six adults, one child and one baby stayed at Villa Ragnana for five nights and we couldn't have found a better place! Radicondoli is a beatiful village with a handful of nice eateries, a small supermarket and amazing panoramas - wherever you are. The kind and caring owner of Villa Ragnana was a lovely host and the house covered all our needs. The outside areas including the swimmingpool are wonderful too. The booking agency was extremely helpful and made us feel much welcome and well-prepared. All in all a sublime experience!
E. Isaksson staying in Ragnana. Sep 2022Claudio (owner) is a true gentleman. Location on the edge of Radicondoli is perfect. Villa is delightful along with the pool. Spacious and well equipped. We will be returning.
Justin K and family staying in Ragnana. Aug 2022Ragnana has the best views of the beautiful Tuscan hills. The clever aspect of the pool and terrace really gave us uninterrupted hills , fields and cypress trees. Claudio (the owner) welcomed us and proudly showed us around the property , leaving us some of his homemade wine and olive oil. He later dropped round some of his home grown tomatoes and cucumber... delicious. We had decided to opt for a villa within walking distance of a village so that we could pop in for an ice-cream and go to dinner without using the car. This worked really well and we sampled the food at all the three restaurants. Loved Pizza National and Agriteca in Piazza. We were also able to drive to Volterra, Siena and San Gimignano which were less than an hour away. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.
Liz staying in Ragnana. Jul 2022Cosy old house with a great pool area and a nice view to the Tuscan landscape. The children loved the huge pool. Only a short walking distance to the nearby village with great restaurants, bakery and coffee shops. Being a family of eight people, the kitchen area and the fridge is rather small but it worked out well with some simple cooking.
Charlotte staying in Ragnana. Jul 2022Excellent house, nice pool and surrondings with lots of room for kids and families. Only a short walk to Radicondoli, which is a very small and cosy town. But with restaurants, café and bakeries. Cafe Il Nationale is super nice with great coffee, ice cream and pizzas. Claudio - the owner of the house - is very nice and super helpfull. We are definetely thinking about going back.
Mette Lykke staying in Ragnana. Jul 2022We stayed in Ragnana Radicondoli, we took Dan's great advice and were not disappointed. The villa is absolutely perfect well stocked , lovely outdoor dining area with a beautiful well maintained pool . The owner Claudio could not have been more welcoming and discreet as he tended the beautiful garden surrounding the villa early every morning. The restaurants in Radicondoli are fantastic esp Cafe National which was our absolute favourite. It is so well positioned to visit many beautiful towns and one hour from the coast . I have to mention the backup and support we got from Daniel as we had a unexpected medical issue with one of the family and he was exceptional with help on the phone and contacting someone local to help us as well as contacting a the Dr and acting as translator . I would have no hesitation in recommending this travel company and Ragnana Villa . Superb !
June and family - from Ireland staying in Ragnana. Dec 2018Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed Ragnana and Radicondoli. The house was basic but lovely and our host was wonderful. Despite having problems with the hot water for the first 2 nights we thoroughly enjoyed living there and experiencing Tuscany. Claudio cleaned the pool every day and watered the plants but was very unintrusive and even cleaned the BBQ! It was such a great place for our party of eight. We would definitely like to return in 2020 and would like to stay somewhere nearer to Lucca and would not hesitate to use your company again. Thank you for your brilliant service that exceeded our expectations.
D.A. from NZ staying in Ragnana. Dec 2018Many thanks for your recommendation re Ragnana. Our group of six adults stayed there for a week and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Location was great: we loved the proximity to charming Radicondoli, and the view and access to countryside at the back easily made up for the initially off-putting approach through the modern housing development. The house was clean, well maintained, well equipped, and had comfortable beds. Claudio was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. All in all it was an excellent choice for us, and we’d certainly recommend it to others!
L.K. and friends staying in Ragnana. Jun 2017Some great local tips!
We have been in correspondence with Dan, mainly about the pool – but I do want to stress again how impressed we have been with you all at ItoT: thank you!
Restaurants: Agriteca is lovely and our favourite, notwithstanding the limited menu: service form the sweet Romanian couple front-of-house, is professional and impeccable and the food is excellent (the pork especially: I had it at least three times!) La Pergola was nearly as good: bigger and buzzing and with locals (always a good sign for me). We went there several times Golfo di Napoli: bizarre! A vast but empty ‘fish and steak’ restaurant that one night had no fish (we went twice, only when the others were full or closed) Fattoria Tegoni (part owners of Agriteca as I am sure you know) was wonderful for the cooking lesson from Andrea (and the result for those of us who joined the cooks to eat the result!
Places: Casole d’Elsa was a late discovery: go before 13.00 and get to the top of the tower : lunch at Il Porrino was lovely (we had the bruschetta/crostini, having seen them; wish I had gone for the salsiccie e fagiole after I saw them!
La Ragnana was a beautiful villa, lovingly cared for by the owner. The villa, outside patios, and swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The owner generously supplied us with his homemade wine, and produce from his garden. The villa was close enough to Radicondoli to allow us to walk in whenever we needed anything. (There are many small stores, including two grocery stores, a butcher, a pharmacy, etc.) We highly recommend Ristorante Trattoria La Pergola (Although note that reservations are helpful), and also recommend Il Granaio. Our only negative was that Siena, Firenze, etc. could only be visited by car.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Nov 2011Just as advertsed on Invitation to Tuscany. Close, easy walking distance ot lovely small old hil top town, ideal for family members to wander into town to the cafe or bars. Very tranquil, beautifully maintained, lovely pool and set in large private grounds with olive and fig trees to wander in. House quite dark inside but fine as most of life was outdoors.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Oct 2011The house was well kitted out and the pool and views were lovely. The town of Radicondoli is exceptionally welcoming and only 5 minutes walk away with a friendly bar for coffee and a restaurant for some of the best pizza we've ever had and great sunset views. We had a wonderful 2 weeks and are very keen to go back.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Feb 2014I had an idea of a romantic Tuscan villa set in a beautiful surroundings and I wasn't disappointed. Everyone loved it! The pool is fantastic, it's private and has a great view of the surrounding countryside. The owner was very hospitable and brought over several bottles of home made vino and a stack of tomatoes, which we enjoyed. The village of Radicondoli is quaint, there are a few good restaurants to eat in, the villagers were friendly and helpful. There are also some great walks around the village. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.
Ms. K.W. and family, UK staying in Ragnana. Sep 2019The Villa was perfect for our family of eight including two children ages three and six. The owner was a wonderfull host working every day to clean the pool, work in the yard, and empty all the outside trash. He would arrive early and be gone by the time we were getting out of bed. This is truly the best family vacation we have ever experienced due largely to the quality of the Villa and the hosts hospitality. The town of Radicondoli is a delight, not too big, not too small with a couple of great restaurants and a few small shops to help stock the kitchen in the Villa. Anyone planning to tour Tuscany by car will find this location makes it easy to get to all the great locations in Tuscany and return home at the end of the day. We can't wait to return to La Ragnana.
Mr. B.I. and family, USA staying in Ragnana. Dec 2009We shared this with another family and it was a fantastic base to experience tuscany at its best. The villa has a lot a charm and a few quirks (electrics and water) but the location and extensive grounds were a delight. The owner was exceptionally helpful. The town is great and is wonderful for simple local shops - great on foot.Easy reach of San Giminiano and Siena. The proprty has stacks of charater and charm. Would recommend for a large family- our children really enjoyed the freedom and the local restaurants. Brilliant.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Dec 2009Folks, if you want a lovely home, steeped in Italian tradition with a worldclass location/view and wonderful owners, this is it! The property, surrounded by Olive trees and vineyards is wonderfully relaxing and soulful. An easy 1000 meter walk takes you into the village which features superb architecture, food, great cafe's and incredible views of the rolling hills and valleys below. We plan on returning in 2010 and can't wait.Enjoy!
Anon staying in Ragnana. Feb 2009We spent two weeks at La Ragnana with our son and his family and we all agreed that it was the best vacation we had ever had. A large part was due to the ambience of La Ragnana and to Gigi, our thoughtful landlord. Also, Radicondoli is a delightful small village with enough shops and restaurants to satisfy all our needs. The swimming pool at La Ragnana is perfect, with its view across the valley towards Belforte. The olive groves, spring house and vegetable gardens on the grounds were also very appealing. The house was surrounded by beautiful flowers blooming in large planters, tended by our landlord, Gigi. We also enjoyed the outdoor woodfire grill for several meals. Daytrips to Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, San Golgano, Montepulciano were easy by car, and to Florence by train from Poggibonsi (where we did our major shopping).
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Dec 2009House and location lived up to all expectations. Lovely pool. Close to village. The owner was attentive but not obtrusive and his gifts of his own produce were much appreciated.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Dec 2011We just returned from a week radicondoli. The cottage was excellent (especially the swimming pool) for 2 families with a very friendly Mr Lastrucci who managed the place. What makes Ragnana a perfect place to stay is the fact that it is very close to the radicondoli village, which is a village where you can live the tuscan live at its best. (no touristic but all the shops and services you need). To improve -> quality of the beds (matrasses)
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Dec 2012Wonderful holiday enjoyed by 3 generations of our family. Lovely farmhouse - great mix of rustic original features, but with all the modern facilities that you would want. Beautiful pool and patio areas - very well looked after. Views to die for. Fantastic owner who left his own red wine and olive oil for us to sample. He also dropped off some tomatoes, courgettes, fresh herbs and peaches from his farm during the week. Radicondoli is a lovely village with 3 great restaurants - especially La Nazionale. Ideal for day trips to Volterra, San Gimiginano and Siena. We would love to stay here again.
Anonymous staying in Ragnano. Dec 2012We (5 adults, 2 kids) stayed here for two weeks and had the time of our lives. The setting--house, grounds, pool, was exquisite and the owner could not have been more gracious and accommodating. Every day he left us gifts from his farm: wine, olive oil, lettuce, basil, etc. We based out of the house and did day trips all over Tuscany. It was a magical vacation and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The town of Radiccondoli (just a short walk up the hillside) boasts 3 excellent restaurants and a warm community.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Mar 2011Our third stay at this farmhouse, what can I say?, except it was fantastic, lovely house, patio areas, bbq and pool. Claudio, the owner, arrives every day, very early to sweep and tidy the area around the house and pool. Left us his superb home grown produce and wine, very much appreciated. Cannot wait to return again very soon.
Mrs. A.H. and friends, UK staying in Ragnana. Dec 2013Ragnana was exactly as expected and described to me by Laura at Invitation to Tuscany. It is a lovely farmhhouse which is large enough for an extended family such as ours, comfortable and welcoming. The outside spaces are particularly lovely - the pool is very clean and surrounded by tables and chairs, and there are various other patios and tables where you can sit and enjoy the quite fabulous views. We particularly liked the quick walk into Radicondoli and ate in a couple of the village restaurants, strolling home afterwards which was a joy! Claudio was the perfect host, leaving us his own wine and olive oil which was delicious. I can thoroughly recommend the villa and we hope to return
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Oct 2013Lovely setting at Radicondoli - about 30 minutes drive to Siena, 90 minutes to Firenze and beautiful scenery all around. A lot of space in Ragnana, nice swimming pool and most everything one could ask for. 5 stars also to Claudio, the perfect host, who surprised us by providing us with a case of his good wine, olive oil, and even fresh vegetables from his own garden. The perfect place for a family reunion. The use of a GPS recommended for first arrival.
Anonymous staying in Ragnana. Dec 2014Our family group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Ragnana. The accommodation and grounds fully lived up to expectations. The host was attemtive but not intrusive and made us feel at home with a generous gift of his own wine and olive oil.The village of Radicondoli is quiet but very picturesque and day trips to Florence, Sienna and San Gimigniano easiliy accessible treats..
Mr. P.P. and family, Ireland staying in Ragnana. Dec 2010We had a lovely week at Ragnana. It was exactly as you described, and felt very much like home. The swimming pool, grounds and views were all wonderful and it was a pleasure to see Claudio every day - his wine and olive oil were greatly appreciated.
We loved the pizzas at the Nationale and had a nice meal at La Pergola on the stunning balcony. Siena was a lovely town to visit, and some of the family went over to Elba for the day which was very interesting, if a lot of driving.
A lovely holiday home and we hope to return.
Mrs C.H. and family, UK staying in Ragnana. Jul 2013My husband and I wanted a villa in Tuscany that was not too large, which was not part of a multi-tenanted property, that had great views, and which was close to a town. Ragnana had it all. It is a wonderful villa outside the fabulous small town of Radicondoli, which was a short (steep) walk for groceries and dining. The villa grounds are lovely and have expansive views of the valley below – great beds, lots of hot water (there were only two of us) and a relatively well equipped kitchen. The owner Claudio lives in town and is happy to help with questions etc. His home made wine was excellent. The restaurants in town were very good – La Pergola has terrific pizzas and a beautiful patio overlooking the other side of the valley (a must for sunset); La Nationale is run by three local women and has very good pastas; La Pizzeria Granaio also had excellent pizza and a wonderful chef who also sings beautifully (lots of fun k- not clear to me why La Pergola is crowded and this wonderful place is less so). In short, it was a perfect place and we would return if we can.
Mrs A.M. and family, Canada staying in Ragnana. Dec 2013We've known Ragnana and rented it for the past 36 years; in all that time the house has been consistently popular with all our clients. It started out without a swimming pool and a number of other things, like the barbecue and pergola, but has always retained its simple charm. This is a house for living in and enjoying; the decor will win no interior design prizes but is eminently usable. Most of the living goes on outside anyway, on the large terrace area with a pergola, or around the pool. And with the lively village of Radicondoli within walking distance, many evenings will be spent in one of the local restaurants. A firm favourite, helped also by Claudio's charm. He often drops by with home produced wine, olive oil and vegetables for guests.
Dan staying in Ragnana. Jan 0017I have arranged holidays for groups of friends for the last 10 years and I think La Ragnana has been the best appointed house we have had. They have all been good but the thought behind the arrangements and the quality of the equipment was superb. The various outside terraces and poolside were furnished with top quality loungers, umbrellas and even a shower by the pool. We have stayed in places where there has been a state of the art cooker that you needed a degree in practical engineering to use, here it was good basic turn on and go. The utensils looked new. The bottles of wine and the virgin olive oil left by Claudio the proprietor from his own fattoria was also welcoming and excellent. While a younger group would have found the terrain much easier and been able to do the short walk into town easily, we did eat at La Pergola, which outside has views to die for, and Agriteca which is in the town both busy in season and food cooked to order. My daughter and I both speak a bit of Italian and that went down quite well - everyone was very helpful.
Mrs. B.N. family and friends, UK staying in Ragnana. Dec 2015We had a lovely lovely time - Lovely villa. Fabulous pool and Radicondoli was excellent. Claudio provided a very discreet service and the wine and olive oil he gave us was delicious. What a lovely man
Lovely villa and Claudio kept the pool and garden areas immaculate and was very discrete. The inside of the villa is great and the bedrooms were lovely.
All in all, a lovely place and Radicondoli is perfect. The cafe nationale was great great value and served delicious meals. Agriteco in piazza was lovely too. We liked La Pergola too for the views.
Mrs W.D and Family staying in Ragnana. Dec 2013
Villa d’Orcia is an elegant older house overlooking Val d’Orcia. It offers good bedding, a well equipped kitchen, functional bathrooms, a variety of herbs, Gelasio who oversees the house during the owner’s absence, two dogs and two cats who will make you feel right at home! Oh, and a stunning, private swimming pool.
It would be good to develop more shaded areas with good garden furniture. The dirt and gravel road needs work.
All in all, very delightful!
Carol & family staying in Valdorcia. Jul 2023
This is very much "borrowing" a much loved but probably 1970s lovely Italian family holiday house, once a farm, on a remote hillside - not a standard holiday rental property with pristine white walls and health and safety certificates in abundance.
So you get a real experience of Val d'Orcia as published by Iris Origo. It is a very happy house with a lovely well-tended garden that grows on you as the week progresses but you need to dispense with some modern comforts and just relax into the beautiful scenery and exist with the wild things that live in the forest!
Plenty to do within a short drive including Al Foce gardens and if you start missing the high life you just pop up to the spanking brand new Monteverdi hotel (and wellbeing centre) for evening negronis or Aperolspritz's in the sunset and let the car just roll back down the hill when satiated! Some great local restaurants too but why not take the River Cafe Italian cookbook and try some things out using local produce? Arezzo , Pienza etc all an hour's drive away for cultural intake.
If you are at home in the countryside, like animals and want to do the real Italy off the beaten track with a bit of adventure thrown in then this is a jewel. If you are at all high maintenance, prone to complaining about the facilities, dislike driving off-road, with kids who won't sit still for 2 seconds then you should be in Rome not Val d'Orcia... or get a life!
PS. The secret of finding the property, which isn't easy on arrival, is to use Google Maps and drop a pin. An option is to get cheaper BA flights on Thursday, stay at Wine Resort Dievole in Chianti on the saving, and then drive to Val d'Orcia on the Saturday in plenty of time - well stocked up with mixed crate of Dievole chianti rose & olive oil to last the week.
Simon et al. staying in Valdorcia. Jul 2023
We had a really lovely time in Valdorcia - all the family thought the house and location was great - a jewel in the Tuscan countryside. Our daughter and son in law would like to revisit with friends at some point in time. All yours and Sarah's assistance was much appreciated with the wonderful catering we had one night and all the travel instructions. Matteo the owner was charming and helpful also on the 2 occasions we had to reach out to him . We spent most evenings either having a barbecue or other in house cooking as we had the grand kids with us but obviously we were out three nights with the family wedding and also tried a recommended restaurant in Sarteano on the Valdorcia house list which was great.
L.R. and family, UK staying in Valdorcia. Jan 2019
Valdorcia is a beautiful old stone farmhouse sitting high up on a sloping property overlooking the valley of the same name. Access is partly via a bumpy, unpaved road for just over a kilometre, which some may find challenging but we found added to the charm and deterred unnecessary traffic. The house is quite remote with no neighbours close by. Because of the altitude of the property, we found it breezy when we were there in September, but that didn’t stop us enjoying the magnificent view from the front of the house.
Rooms are large with high ceilings. Downstairs is an enormous kitchen/dining room with a large table seating eight, as well as a small area with a table for four. The kitchen is “rustic” but well equipped with six gas rings, a wall oven, a large old fireplace for grilling, and a new dishwasher. The pantry, which contains the fridge/freezer (and adjacent powder (cloak) room) is around 15 paces from the kitchen sink which makes for lots of walking. However, given the quality and quantity of Tuscan food, lots of walking is a good thing.
The main floor also has a small sitting area at the end of the dining/kitchen and a bedroom with en suite bathroom.
Upstairs there are five bedrooms, two with en suite bathrooms, and one particularly charming “library” bedroom. The communal bathroom is enormous and its anteroom has a washbasin and a washing machine. There is a lovely sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs and a huge stone fireplace. A good place to sip Limoncello after dinner.
The caretaker lives on the property with his two friendly dogs. He brought us fresh figs, huge fresh eggs from his chickens, dark red, sweet tomatoes from the garden, as well as lettuces and onions. He is a real asset to the property, putting out garden chairs in the morning and maintaining the grounds beautifully, including the large swimming pool.
Sarteano, the local town, has a small but well-stocked supermarket, as well as some superb restaurants. We were given a list of recommended restaurants in the area by the owner of the farmhouse and every one was wonderful. On two occasions, Rita from Sarteano arrived with her bags and made three-course dinners of typical Tuscan food – enough for the eight of us for lunch next day as well.
The autostrada was fairly close (20 minutes drive) so visiting other areas from this property is relatively easy.
J.G. with Reid Party, Canada staying in Valdorcia. Sep 2017
We have just returned from a wonderful visit to Valdorcia. This lovely house sits high up, with a magnificent view over the Val d’Orcia, which was a constant source of pleasure and inspiration. The house is large, with six bedrooms, but occupancy is limited to 8 people, which means that there is plenty of room for all. There are four shower rooms (two en suite, and one of the others has a bathtub too), and there is the added convenience of a separate toilet on the ground floor.
The kitchen is large and exceptionally well equipped, with more than enough pots and pans to satisfy even the most ardent cook. The dining table seats eight comfortably, and there is a very convenient seating area just off the kitchen, ideally placed so that those not involved in meal preparation can provide a stream of advice. The living room, on the first floor, has comfortable seating for at least eight people, with plenty of light and a fireplace for cooler evenings.
We were welcomed to Valdorcia by charming owners Matteo and his wife. They are justifiably proud of their house, and pay guests the compliment of furnishing it with family possessions. However, as beautiful and comfortable as the house and surroundings are, most the best thing about our stay was Gelasio, the caretaker. He lives on the premises, and has the knack of being totally unobtrusive unless needed. It seems that he can turn his hand to anything, but we particularly appreciated the way he produced fresh eggs, salad greens and figs almost before we knew that we needed them. Under his care the grounds and pool are kept immaculate.
We had two excellent meals prepared for us by Rita, who came in to cook, and also enjoyed several restaurants in the area. It is true that it is difficult to find a substandard meal in Italy, but we would like to say that the restaurants recommended in the house notes were outstanding. Other reviewers have rightly praised Ristorante Santa Chiara in Sarteano, but good as it is, we felt that Osteria da Gagliano also in Sarteano, is even better. All credit to Matteo for these recommendations, and also for sending us to Zi’ Pina in Fiumicino, where we spent our last night in Italy before returning (reluctantly) to Canada. Overall, Valdorcia is a place to be treasured, and returned to as often as possible.
Neville and Jenny Reid staying in valdorcia. Sep 2017
We loved Valdorcia – the house and grounds had the most wonderful atmosphere which we fell in love with as soon as we arrived and met the owner. So many glorious things about it but perhaps above all the view from the property which is stunning whether sitting under the big oak tree in front of the house which provides such marvellous shade or from down at the pool. I absolutely loved early morning walks up to Castligioncello del Trinoro where the staff were always very friendly and it was possible to get coffee and a pastry on the terrace with the spectacular view back down over the house. We were also fortunate enough to catch one of the concerts there – quite amazing – such an astonishing quality of musician performing without charge to the audience and in such an intimate venue.
One of our guests and myself are keen walkers so we also enjoyed walking through the woods above the property to La Foce (War in Val D’Orcia is such an interesting read if you have visited the area).
The house itself was very comfortable and we all loved the fact that it felt like such a home – several of us are avid readers and would have loved to be able to read Italian as just seeing the depth and range of books was amazing. The kitchen was very well equipped and we ate in a great deal but we had a good dinner at Santa Chiara in Sarteano, a wonderful lunch at Osteria La Porta in Monticchiello and a very good casual lunch in Radicofani.
Above all though we would all like to say a huge thank you to Gelasio who was such a kindly and humble presence throughout the week – our Italian was almost non-existent as is his English so I was constantly anxious that when we tried to ask him something we sent him to a paroxysm of anxiety, however, he communicated particularly well with one of our number who is a wonderful listener and a great gardener and I will never forget him bringing her a wonderful basket of figs – so beautifully presented with the basket all lined with fig leaves.
We would love to come again!
E.H. and friends, UK staying in Valdorcia. Dec 2017
We had a great time at Valdorcia, and could not fault the house. In particular, the owner Matteo and his wife were very helpful in showing us around on arrival. The housekeeper, Gelasio, was around most of the time but we didn’t find this intrusive. Despite the language barrier, we were just about able to communicate with Gelasio when needed. The gardens were really well kept and the views across the valley were fantastic.
The house is along a rough steep track, about 1 mile off the main road. This was not an issue for us but might be worth warning people about this.
We ate out at Ristorante Santa Chiara in nearby Sarteano which we would recommend. Good food and service in an interesting location of an ex convent.

Very good. Especially pool, outside pizza oven and barbecue.
Breakfast bakery service and rubbish service very good.
Matthew, Germany staying in Scudo. Aug 2024
From the booking through arrival, communication was responsive and thorough without being too much. The apartment was spotless, the bed & pull out couch comfortable, and everything functions very well. As someone who also rents out a property, I appreciated so many little things: the clear information sheets and personal recommendations, which were truly curated. The quality of kitchenware, art, furniture, bedding etc; this apartment felt like it was designed for the owner to live here. Things that you don't always find when staying in Italy: enough drawers and hangars for clothing, full length mirror, Close up Mirror in the bathroom, good shower pressure and a shower head that is high and large enough for a tall person (not to mention a shower that doesn't soak the bathroom!!) Brava Sue. I hope to return soon.

This apartment was as beautiful as the pictures. Located in nice location. 15-30 min walk from main attractions but mins from groceries and restaurants. We stayed a week and will definitely come back again. Easy check in and lift for baggage if needed.
Lorie from US staying in Via della Colonna. Oct 2025
I don’t even know what to say. This apartment in Florence was perfect for us as a couple. Clean, quiet, convenient to most of the main things you want to see in Florence…it has it all. Communication was very easy and Susan was so helpful when we got stranded due to a taxi strike in the city. Highly recommend Via Della Colonna!!
Kevin G staying in Via della Colonna. Jul 2025
What a beautiful apartment. Easy walking distance from the city centre. I wanted to stay in an apartment that looked like it was in Florence, not a grey and white block that could be anywhere! This apartment successfully combined the original historic features with modern lifestyle needs. The owners were friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
Katharine from UK staying in Via della Colonna. Apr 2025
The apartment was wonderful! It's in a wonderful location. An easy walk to everything, yet enough on the outskirts to be quiet at night. It's on the second floor and there is a mini elevator for when you have luggage. And Invitation to Tuscany was so helpful and always immediately available if I had a question.
Tracy, US staying in Via della Colonna. Oct 2024
My husband and I were so pleased with this property! Very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, well equipped kitchen, and luxurious sitting room made this apartment perfect for our stay in Florence. We were able to walk everywhere and highly recommend this property!
Linda, US staying in Via della Colonna. Oct 2024
Spacious and beautifully furnished apartment on a quiet street in the hear of Florence. We could walk to everything. The hostess was knowledgeable and helpful and provided recommendations on shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Florence.
Allisa staying in Via della Colonna. Sep 2024
Sue's apartment was absolutely perfect! The flat was immaculately clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a wonderful stay in her beautifully renovated place that is a perfect combination of modern amenities and Italian charm. Sue was so friendly and knowledgeable and give us lots of ideas for things to do and see during our stay in Florence. The apartment was in a great location that was very close to all of the major sites but not too busy. We were definitely recommend staying here. We were sad to leave!!
Mellanie, Canada staying in Via della Colonna. Sep 2024
Susan, the delightful owner of the apartment, was at the door to greet us with a smile and reassurance. The apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable, everything works well and is well maintained. Situated in the city centre sights, museums and restaurants are all an easy walk away. It is a perfect base from which to explore Florence.
Karen from Denmark staying in Via della Colonna. May 2024
We very much enjoyed our few days (early May) in the Colonna apartment. It is a beautiful and very comfortable apartment in a central but not crowded part of the old city. The owner, Susan, was extremely friendly and helpful and her recommendations for restaurants were spot-on - especially nearby Trattoria Acquacotta. We were able to walk to all the sites we wanted to visit within a maximum of 15 to 20 minutes. The apartment is on a reasonably busy road but, miraculously, the traffic seemed to vanish by late evening and it was very quiet overnight. We have been to Florence before on a couple of occasions and so avoided the half dozen major tourist destinations, like the Uffizi. The second tier sites we visited were all virtually empty. We wouldn't hesitate to stay in the apartment again if we were to revisit Florence but the crowds, even in early May, around the major sites and surrounding streets are really off putting.
Trevor from UK staying in Via della Colonna. May 2024
Wonderful host who was here to great me. Very central location. I will surely recommend this flat. Very homey, not at all touristy.
Linda-Marie from Denmark staying in Via della Colonna. Jan 2024
Our stay at Via della Colonna was fabulous. Everything was better than promised. And Sue made our stay personal…like family. We shall return.
T.G. from US staying in Via della Colonna. Oct 2023
We throughly enjoyed meeting Sue and wished we had had more time to spend with her. Her recommendations from neighborhood restaurant dining options to sights to see off the beaten path were superb. Her lovely apartment is conveniently located and is furnished and equipped with everything one could possibly need. We highly recommend staying here.
Pamela & Henry (USA) staying in Via della Colonna. Apr 2023
The flat was elegant and comfortable; we felt that every item had been carefully selected to add to the overall effect. The location was ideal for viewing the sights of Florence - the art, the buildings, the shops… We were close to the Duomo and within easy walking reach of the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio. The choice of restaurants and cafes was amazing! We had a really enjoyable few days and hope to return to this property at some point - we relished the feeling that we were actually living in this beautiful city for a few days!
Mark staying in Via della Colonna. Feb 2023
This is a beautifully presented apartment perfectly located for the sights of Florence. The rooms have been carefully furnished with comfortable furniture and pretty pictures and ornaments. It is spacious and has wonderfully efficient aircon.
Local buses can get you to the railway station, the airport and Fiesole very easily. It is just a stroll into the city centre. Nearby there is a very friendly cafe for breakfast and just a bit further away are local restaurants (including a mobile van for local tripe sandwiches - I dodged this local delicacy).
The host is a very helpful and recommends places to see, and to eat at. I will return.

A wonderful rustic farmhouse apartment stay on gorgeous historical grounds. We booked Pieve Di Caminino for two weeks for July/August as a base in Tuscany and are so glad we did. A rustic authentic, historic farmhouse apartment with incredible views. A very welcoming arrival with nice wine from the family's own vineyard in this old church that houses the family's art collection. There are 7 apartments on the property and we stayed at Bifora that has a terrace with endless Tuscan countryside views. Location was perfect. Anywhere in Tuscany you need to drive as a starting point. We took in several hilltop towns as daytrips, vineyards but also the seaside because it is just half an hour away. I think this balance makes a longer stay best. You can do your beach days to relax and then again the exploration. Very kind and helpful owner Emi that made us feel so welcome. Self-catering stay here was wonderful. A kitchen to cook in when you felt like it. Supermarkets etc all close by. Don't forget to take walks on the grounds of olive trees. Nice tranquil swimming pool with views. Laundry service too. Thank you.
Tarja and Yasar staying in Bifora. Aug 2024
We had a wonderful stay in your beautiful Villa Ludoviuca. I love the bedrooms, bathrooms, the windows, the garden, the pool, the terrace. We love going to Da Luciano, and I personally love to go to the little pasticceria to get my daily beignet di chocolato. We also love the boat trip with Giorgio, the swim at the Comacina was the best. Thank you for your hospitality, for your assistance and for the bread.
Mark staying in Villa Ludovica. Jul 2022
A lovely apartment in a delightful setting with views across the valley to the delightful hill town of Citta della Pieve. Charming family - very helpful. It was great to have food (and wine!) laid in on arrival, by arrangement with Olivia. Excellent and detailed instructions and suggestions for restaurants and services in the folder. The kitchen perhaps the best provided of any place we have stayed at. Nice quiet pool. Lots to do in the area.
Some suggestions: A sign to indicate Aceronina on the final turning on the white road - it is not labelled as such! We found that entering Borgo Montefreddo on the satnav worked well. The final ~200M of track is a bit of a nightmare- would be tricky for a small or low vehicle- so could be improved!
Thanks Nigel, I've changed the directions to make them more helpful!
Nigel and family staying in Aceronina. Aug 2025
We had a party of five people at the villa for 5 nights - it was perfect. We could not have asked for a more tranquil, relaxing, and private holiday destination. We had the beautiful grounds and pool to ourselves for the entirety of our stay at the villa, and we thoroughly enjoyed this. We made use of the lovely big pool daily - playing pool volleyball as well as doing laps. It is meticulously maintained, as are all of the outside grounds of the property.
Inside the villa is a beautiful large kitchen which allowed all five of us to prepare food at the same time. In fact all of the rooms in the villa are large which gave us ample room to relax inside when it was too hot to be outside. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and spices needed to create meals. The bathrooms were very clean and ample bath and pool towels were provided.
The villa is air-conditioned, with controls in all rooms, and in conjunction with the shutters on all windows the villa was kept lovely and cool even on the hottest days that we were there. The view from the outside balcony/patio was absolutely breathtaking, clearly seeing across the valley to the hilltop village on the other side, many kilometres away.
We were welcomed by Olivia, the owner, and her daughter who allowed us to check-in early. It was comforting knowing that Olivia lives at one of the other houses on the property, however we were also given complete privacy.
We highly recommend this villa for a restful holiday, and we are all hoping to return again in the future.
Guy and family staying in Aceronina. Jul 2025
This is a big villa for six people - ideal for a family or group of friends. Each stylishly decorated bedroom is spacious and has its own luxurious bathroom. We had three generations of the family staying, and there was always space for everyone to do their own thing, with a large sitting room/lounge/dining room, a big country well equipped country kitchen, and a convenient loggia/verandah for outdoor meals overlooking the spectacular scenery down the Val di Chiana and across to the medieval hilltop town of Citta della Pieve. We loved the original farmhouse tiles, the beamed ceilings, comfortable furniture, art and stylish furnishings. Olivia provides a lot of tourist information, and fantastic art, literature and picture books on the area and Italy in general, as well as personal recommendations for local restaurants. We took her advice and went to a spectacular restaurant in Citta della Pieve, and another in San Casciano dei Bagni, both within 20 minutes drive. There are also small groceries within a short drive away, where you can buy a grand selection of local cheeses, hams, prosciutto, olives and other vegetables.
The pool was a good size for lap swimming as well as lounging about. We appreciated the tote bag gifts and pool towels. We all enjoyed the beautiful setting, except for one problem: near the villa on this large estate, there was a horse paddock surrounded by forest (with deer!), and this proved ideal conditions for horse flies which are a terrible scourge in hot weather, as they have a painful bite (they can even bite through clothing or sunbed mesh), leaving a swollen itchy sore for days. Some of us suffered more than others, who were able to fend them off with insect repellent. Fortunately, the flies were restricted to one area and did not come near the house, which was high up on the first floor, and also had screened windows.
We all loved this villa and would highly recommend it. Olivia and her adult children were very helpful and responsive hosts, providing lots of information and sorting any problems very quickly. We only encountered one difficulty, which was in initially finding the villa because the coordinates given in our instructions were incorrect, and our GPS led us almost 15 kilometers away down an almost impassable track, before we realised there must be a mistake in the directions. The local village of Piazze was not mentioned in the instructions, and although we were told the villa was called Aceronina, no one used this name, and it was always called Montefreddo. Eventually after phone calls to our host, Olivia, her daughter rescued us, and came to meet us in Piazze to lead us to the villa. However, the instructions need to be corrected to save others a wild goose chase. This is a beautiful villa in a lovely peaceful spot, with wonderful tourist sites in the vicinity, and gave us a relaxing and happy holiday.
Wendy and Mark from New Zeland staying in Aceronina. Aug 2024
This is our first stay here. Having stayed in the area previously, we were taken aback by the panoramic views from the terrace. The accommodation is superb! It is very comfortable and well equipped. Our hosts were charming and helpful, especially about the restaurant recommendations in the local towns. All of which we found to be very charming. The lasagne from the local butchers in Piazze is a must!!
Heather & family from UK staying in Aceronina. Jun 2024
We recently spent a week at Aceronina with members of our family, celebrating major birthdays and important anniversaries. We could hardly have chosen a better location! The views go on for ever in several directions, and never failed to delight, even on the day when storm clouds came sweeping in from the south.
The accommodation is spacious and extremely well equipped and comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could ask for if you want to cook for yourself. However, you would be denying yourself a great deal if you didn’t explore at least some of the fine restaurants to be found in the area. We really enjoyed dinner at Osteria Rinaldi, in Piazze, just 5 minutes down the road, and the carnivores in the group raved about the mixed grill enjoyed at the restaurant at the castle in Radico-fani. However, the highlight was the celebratory dinner prepared and served for us “at home”. We really appreciated all the help received from Invitation to Tuscany in booking the week, and spe-cially in helping organise our special dinner.
Lounging by the pool was an important part of our stay, but there is also a great deal of interest in the surrounding area. A week was way too short a time, but besides Radicofani and Piazze, we were also able to visit San Casciano dei Bagni and Montalcino, (home of the famous Brunello wine, but also home to a very interesting leather goods store). Siena was also within easy reach for a day’s outing.
Altogether it was a wonderful week, and special thanks must go to Olivia, the owner, for providing such comfortable, well equipped surroundings.
Neville & family from Canada staying in Aceronina. May 2023
Our stay at Aceronina was the favorite part of our trip. The villa was even better than expected....Very spacious and lovely...especially the view. We got lost (followed the GPS) on the way and Olivia, the owner came to get us and lead us to the villa. We also had someone recommended by Olivia come in one night to fix a wonderful dinner for us.
Also thanks to Dan of Invitation to Tuscany for all your help. Any time I had questions, they were promptly answered and much help was offered. Would definitely do this again.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Unbedingt bei Savini Tartufi Trüffel kaufen, nur 3 Kilometer entfernt

The villa is incredibly beautiful, beautifully furnished, with a huge property surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Everything is super clean, well-maintained, and in great condition. The pool is a lovely size and is cleaned every day. You arrive and immediately relax. You receive a very warm welcome, and any questions you have about restaurants, excursions, or anything else during your stay are answered promptly. Highly recommended! Be sure to buy truffles at Savini Tartufi, just 3 kilometers away

Anne Marie was an excellent host who was there when we needed her, provided extensive local knowledge on places to visit and restaurants and could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
The property was very well located for visiting Florence, Siena, Arezzo and many other small and beautiful local towns and villages.
The facilities were excellent, well thought through and with a lovely pool to cool off in.
Would very much recommend this to others and am sure we may be back in the future.
Stuart and family staying in Stalla. Jul 2023
We enjoyed our stay at Stalla. The pool area is a lovely and tranquil setting with perfect weather an added bonus. Nice quality poolside furniture too and large swimming pool. Anne Marie was very accommodating and helpful giving suggestions for good restaurants and places to visit. She also showed us the other apartments which looked very good. The isolated location suited us and would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.
Adrian and family from UK staying in Stalla. Jun 2023
We loved Stalla! It exceeded our expectations in every respect and was very good value. It is in such a lovely setting and seemed more spacious than in the pictures. We also appreciated the high standard of fittings and good quality bed linen. The kitchen and large dining table were fantastic as we cooked most evenings. There was a "proper", clean pool, which we all enjoyed. Anne Marie was fabulous and an amazingly kind and knowledgeable host, recommending the antiques market in Arezzo, which was fascinating, and giving very useful tips for our day trip to Florence.
We were due to be terribly early on our arrival day, so stopped for lunch in Civitella, which is stunning, but not mentioned in our guidebooks. We were so pleased we'd not missed out on seeing it. The day out we all loved most was to the Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore. Quite a long journey but it had been my favourite place when I went 30 years ago, when staying in an Invitation to Tuscany property with my own parents. It was wonderful to take my family and find they loved it too. from the stunning frescoes and marquetry to the delicious wine and olive oil. Such a peaceful spot.
We had a fabulous time and want to come back to Tuscany soon, possibly with my sisters and their families if we can find a time when we can all make it. Thank you so much for your personal attention in helping us choose a property and with all the details of the booking. It made such a difference. We hope to book with you again. I would certainly recommend Invitation to Tuscany very highly to anyone.
M.B. family from UK staying in Stalla. Dec 2018
Stayed at Stalla and Arcata together with another family and our children. The estate is beautiful, comfortable with high standard and very nice interior. Great pool and possibilities for relaxation or do sports if you prefer that. Cooked our food but also went to nearby villages to visit trattorias, restaurants and Osterias. The owner is an energetic wonderful lady always ready to help out to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Really recommend this location and especially if you go with friends or family but there is enough space even if there are other families around. Great location to visit Siena, Montepulciano, Arezzo, Florence etc. Just perfect vacation!!
Mrs. A.L. and family, Poland staying in Stalla. May 2015
Conveniently located for Arezzo, Sienna, Florence and the Arno valley. Plenty of restaurants in the area and the nearest small supermarket 10 minutes drive away, is open Sunday morning until 12.30, during the summer. Good large Ipercoop on outskirts of Arezzo about 30 mins drive. We found it useful to stock up here at the beginning of the holiday. Valdambra estate- large extensive grounds-plenty of space for children to play and have adventures! Doesn’t feel crowded with all 3 properties occupied. Lovely pool and terrace with plenty of loungers, tables and sun shades. Property clean, tidy and well maintained, well furnished and well equipped with good internet connection. Annemarie is a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming host and is willing to make phone calls to book restaurants or tickets for visits to museums etc. An information pack (rubbish collection, restaurants, shopping etc) would have been useful, but Annemarie is aware of this and is in process of providing one. If 6 people using property, only having the use of one shower may become a problem, especially as it is off the master bedroom. Location-secluded-not in walking distance to anywhere -a car is needed for shops and restaurants (but we were aware of this when booking the property) and is not a problem. We would return without any hesitation!
Mrs. A.R. and family, Switzerland staying in Stalla. Feb 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stalla! Anne-Marie was a wonderful help and the fact that she spoke both English and Italian was especially useful when we needed to make a trip to the pharmacy! My two daughters (8 and 11 years old) loved everything that the property had to offer. The large pool, the ping pong table and lounging hammocks were enjoyed each day. The girls also loved playing bocce each evening on the grassy space outside our villa.
We loved the fully stocked kitchen and we were especially happy with the option to arrive with groceries in the kitchen! Thanks Anne-Marie! The villa was clean and spacious and fully equipped. We had so much to do that we didn't turn the television on for the entire week!
We found it helpful when our host was able to make restaurant and gallery reservations for us. That was very useful and made our experience less stressful.
We really enjoyed our experience with Invitation to Tuscany as well as our stay at Stalla. We would return and recommend both services! The Canadian reps for Invitation to Tuscany were superb in answering all my questions!
Ms S.S. and family, Canada staying in Stalla. Dec 2013
Stalla lived up to our expectations and more. Beautiful grounds and location, lovely swimming pool in idyllic setting, it is a tastefully furnished apartment with everything you need. We took our two very young granddaughters with us on holiday and Stalla was perfect for our needs. The apartment is spacious and really well equipped. The vast kitchen table with comfortable upholstered chairs is quite luxurious. Wonderful comfortable beds with fine bed linen made for a good night's sleep. The gardens are vast, & we loved sitting out at night with the trees and pool illuminated - it is a magical place. Annemarie is friendly and helpful, a great font of knowledge about places to eat and nearby towns and villages to visit. We took her advice and ate at two great restaurants. Her recommendations are spot on. Annemarie intends to put together an information pack for the house - a book of tips and recommendations, and this will be a real plus. We would not have stumbled upon the restaurants she recommended, and would have hated to miss out on them. Because of having a 2 and 4 year old with us, we did not do very much sightseeing and didn't go too far afield. This was fine as we have visited Italy and Tuscany many times, and Stalla is such a delightful place to be. The places we did visit were Monte San Savino - a delightful walled hill town, Cortona and nearby Civitella. All very lovely, well preserved towns with lots of history and good places to eat. We can't recommend it highly enough.
Manager response: I'm delighted! We think it's great but as it's the first year it's always good to hear you were as happy as we had hoped you would be - and AnneMarie is the perfect host! Dan W.

With 14 people staying at this property ( taking all 8 double rooms) we have had a fabulous time with plenty of room for all. Extremely relaxing and convenient location ( our second time renting this property). We had a dinner party for 16 people which worked so well in the huge dining room. We have enjoyed wonderful breakfasts prepared by extremely hard working , cheerful ladies who also cleaned the rooms on a daily basis. We certainly have no complaints about anything . Wonderful holiday - molto grazie!

Hello Dan, I have been meaning to drop you a line to thank you so much for donating this to Battersea. I had the most wonderful time. We all thought the property was amazing (the views were spectacular) and loved the impressive driveway. Everything was well appointed (particularly the bathrooms). We loved the outdoor living, and used the pizza oven twice (and were very pleased with the results!)

Thank you again for our family’s amazing experience at Orologio last summer. The home was truly remarkable; one of the oldest and most important Villas in the Lucca area, but also stunningly beautiful and comfortable. The modern comforts, like air conditioning, and the beautiful large swimming pool made the visit more comfortable, and, for the kids, lots more fun! We appreciated all of your travel tips, and loved the private chef you arranged for us (we talk about how much we miss the chef regularly!!). Thank you again, we can’t wait to come back!

Great amount of different activities and many relaxing areas and options to seperate from the group.
Matteo and family staying in Villa Rapale. Aug 2024
We all had a wonderful time - the villa is beautiful and we all miss our time there already! The wine tour was excellent; Luca was far more than a driver - he was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and told us lots of great stories. The pizza night was good fun; it wasn't very successful as the lady that was making the pizzas was adapting to the size and temperature of the oven but that didn't spoil our enjoyment at all, and we all had plenty of food over the course of the evening. I'd return any time, and am happy to recommend it
A.S. family staying in Villa Rapale. Dec 2018
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Villa Rapale - the house was perfect, the views stunning and the faculties brilliant - the pool, pizza oven and tennis courts being particular favourites.
We will definitely be back!
Thanks to invitation to Tuscany for great service - everything ran very smoothly, the staff were very helpful with any queries and the booking process was very easy.

Our stay here was out of this world. We had such a great time splashing by the pool and eating delicious foos. You are such sweet people and made our trip something we will always treasure. We are so apperciative of what you've done for us to make everything just perfect! We loved Lucca and enjoyed every moment of our trip. We had a wonderful time celebrating Nancy and Bob's 50th wedding anniversary we couldn't have asked for a better way to relax and explore Italy.
Adeline, US staying in Villa Ponte. Jun 2022
Had a great week in this very grand villa set on hillside.
Good location and views. House full of antiques with great ambiance. Pool is private to the rear, well used, although very cold as not heated. Caretaker and housekeeper live on top floor but keep themselves private and don’t speak English.
Had a good meal organised by Invitation to Tuscany served in top floor dining room by Housekeeper, like having your own restaurant on the top floor. Also Great restaurants 5 mins by car and close by is local coop. Monteriggioni is very close too for wine tasting. Only thing missing was mugs for hot drinks, and maybe more towels midweek would have been good.
Anthony K and family staying in Villa Lucia. May 2024
Francesco is the most accommodating host we have ever met. He was so kind and helpful and even got us out of a traffic mishap. The grounds are meticulous and our Casa Damiano (house) was so warm and inviting, we felt that we were "at home." The location is very convenient to many sites, restaurants and the Autoroute. When you dream of visiting Tuscany, start by reviewing the website for Montestigliano.
Connie staying in Damiano. May 2024
Stayed 5 nights with friends and it was wonderful. The views are breathtaking and accommodations just perfect. Francesco and all the staff were very welcoming and I’m so glad we made it for pizza night. Damiano is an accountant by day and a chef and karaoke singer by night. Needless to say there was eating, drinking, singing and dancing throughout the evening. A wonderful place to stay.
Liz B staying in Damiano. May 2024
Quality rental and holiday experience that exceeded our every expectation. The villa is better than the pics, and a few highlights include: fully stocked kitchen that was clean, organized and easy to use; the living area is extremely comfortable with excellent seating and enough for everyone; several areas for dining that can seat everyone; bedrooms and bathrooms that are well stocked, clean and comfortable; the pool and area around it are everything anyone could ask for; and, the view is GORGEOUS! A few ideas to make this exceedingly comfortable, enjoyable villa better would be simply more plastic glasses to take drinks to the pool area, and wine glasses that are not so nice (thicker glass). That said, we weren't charged for broken glass. This villa is operated by real professionals. For the price this is the best rental we've ever encountered.
Judy M, USA staying in La Selva. Sep 2023
Fantastic old house in a secluded location.
E. H. staying in La Selva. Aug 2024
We booked our trip to Tuscany though Invitation to Tuscany. This was our 2nd time going through them and once again we were very pleased with their excellent communication, suggestions for activities (the cooking class was SO much fun for all), help with getting rental cars, etc.
We stayed at the Villa San Miniato from August 10th to the 17th. It was an amazing experience for our family of 19! Francesco, the host, met us later than we'd hoped on Saturday night, due to our car problems. He was so gracious to be there just past 10 pm. He gladly showed us around, made suggestions about places, and let us know he'd be there every day if we needed anything.
The Villa was just what we needed, plenty of space (4 separate spacious apartments), that worked well for us, our kids and 11 grandkids. The location was just what we'd hoped for, centrally close to the cities we wanted to see. The pool was a big hit with all. After a day of sightseeing, it was so nice to unwind there with it's lovely views of the town in the background. Francesco came twice with lots of fresh vegetables from his father's garden.
Our last night there we had a catered meal put on by Francesco and his family, celebrating our trip and a birthday. It was a great way to end a wonderful week! We'd highly recommend Villa San Miniato to anyone planning time in Tuscany, and Invitation to Tuscany for planning, you will NOT be disappointed!

We stayed here for a week in late October for our wedding. There were about 18 of us (mostly couples), and everyone had their own room and their own bathrooms. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms are huge and very functional. All the living spaces were absolutely gorgeous. There is tons of space to spread out. This place is incredible. It holds on to the amazing charm of Tuscany, but is also updated and everything works great. It is a quick drive (8 minutes) do to Figline, where there are some great restaurants and a pretty town center. The Coop (grocery store) had everything we needed and more.
Mrs. Rossella, the owner, lives on sight, and is most kind, gracious, and lovely woman. She made sure we always had everything we needed, and really has created something special here.
The place itself was more incredible than we expected. The photos do not do it justice. Everything about it was dream-like. The pool and jacuzzi were really nice to have, and both kitchens were huge and accessible. The property is gorgeous. For anyone wanting to have their wedding here, there are several great spots on the property. We couldn't have asked for a better location.
We also added on a few services. We had a lovely welcome dinner, as well as breakfast served every morning. It saved us so much time, and all the food was fantastic. Our wedding dinner was the best food I have every had at a wedding.
Thank you to Mrs. Rossella, as well as our wedding coordinator Chiara. You are both wonderful!

My stay at Podere Gregorio was unforgettable. The atmosphere reminds bygone times while you can enjoy all the modern comforts. Rarely you can find such refined and original furnishings. In addition to this, the garden, the swimming pool and the forest allow you to spend days of relaxation and.well-being in Total privacy. Chiara and Gregorio know how to welcome their guests discreetly but with great care. The dinner in the garden was fantastic.

The host could not be more gracious and accommodating. Doing the on site dinners is a must as they are fun interaction and the food is great. Dinner night the sell the wine pizza night you can bring your own. The villas are spacious and clean with a rustic feel.
An amazing property!!!!
Our time at Villa Di Casole was just amazing! The villa offers a perfect blend of historical charm and modern comfort. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, the views of the Tuscan countryside are stunning. The pool area is ideal for relaxing with a magnificent view. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Anna was always on the spot for questions. We highly recommend this place and look forward to seeing you again!

We returned after 12 years, and almost forgot how special of a place it is. We were two families and renter Villa Donati for 4 nights as it was off season. The house and surroundings are amazing. We had the pleasure of having an amazing 4 course dinner, a true highlight. Can't recommend enough.

We are members of a social dance group and 12 of us stayed here a few weeks ago. This is the second time we have stayed there and it is a wonderful place. Tuscany is beautiful and this villa is in the middle of all this beauty. It is exactly what we were expecting from a Tuscan villa. Rustic feel; amazing family who own it and the manager Francesco is a wonderful host for anyone staying there. He is most attentive and looks after everyone. The views first thing in the morning over the valley are stunning, especially as the mist clears. We were very lucky and the weather was superb.

We loved our stay here. The views from the house - and of course from the tower - were amazing. The house was characterful and comfortable. The garden and grounds were beautiful and the hot tub very well used.
Rosado was the perfect host We all appreciated the delicious buffet waiting for us in our arrival. He was helpful and informative and answered all our questions about the area.
Highly recommended villa

Our stay at Francesca was beautiful. Big property with a refreshing pool after a day of exploring Tuscany were the perfect combination. We had a real experience of the Italian lifestyle. The owner, Rosado, was very welcoming and helpful with his tips about places where to go. He was also available 24/7 which is very generous. The organized vine tasting and the delicious breakfasts were a beautiful experience. We are greatfull on his hospitality during our stay. We are definitely coming back.

Francesca is even more beautiful than the pictures. There was plenty of space and our group was very comfortable. The en suite bathrooms and air conditioners are a huge luxury. The pool area is beautiful and the landscaping is wonderful. Rosado the owner is amazingly hospitable, kind, knowledgeable, and very responsive. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning.
