This is the first time in years (or maybe ever) I am writing a 5 star review for any form of hotel, villa, or accommodation - and I would give 6 stars if I could! I had an amazing and truly memorable time at Villa Bosco (Villa Vetrichina). The villa and rooms were amazing, and Patrizia took care of every single detail to perfection. Chef Francesco's daily cooking was also amazing, some of the best food I had in Tuscany, or Italy for that matter. Aurora also did an excellent job throughout. All of them were super warm and welcoming.
Patrizia was also very knowledgeable about Tuscany and the region, and I really enjoyed her personalised recommendations - right down even to the detail of which specific roads were smoother paved and more scenic. An unforgettable place to relax and enjoy Tuscany! Thank you!!

Villa Bosco in Tuscany was probably one of the best experiences we have had of renting villas all over Europe. We were 3 families, 6 grown-ups and 7 children aged 2-14 and we had a wonderful 3 week vacation at the villa. First of all the environment is perfect as advertised: A beautiful old farmhouse, renovated with all modern amenities – excellent bathrooms, showers, and bidets air conditioning in all the rooms (note: electricity for A/C charged separately), very comfortable beds, most of them extra-large by European standards, beautiful old furnishings but practical and useful. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, large refrigerator, dish washer and of course a large dining room with a table that seated 13 easily. The swimming pool was also fantastic – clear water, large, many pool toys and accessories available, pool furniture including many armchairs – a real joy to escape the heat in hot days. Many other amenities: table tennis, outside gazebo with full dining table, outside grill and barbeque, and more. Our only remark was that the 2 TV sets in the lounges could have been a bigger… The villa itself is arranged with groupings of 1, 2,3 bedrooms so that families can have an “area” to themselves and yet join the whole group for meals, evenings, etc. What made the stay so special was our host Patrizia and her chef Francesco. She really made the difference making this experience so unique. She lives next door and always available for any requestproblem. Every request was met with a smile and the team made all attempts to satisfy all our requests. During our stay we had an incident where one of our group fell and wounded her head, she was taken care by Francesco who eventually called an ambulance, was taken to the hospital, stitched, and returned after a few hours. Wonderful care, as good as can be expected. We ordered a few dinners cooked by Francesco – highly recommended, excellent food, Italian delicacies both local and national – to say nothing of the calorie-full desserts. Our only complaint was that there was too much food at these meals. Needless to say, the children got special dishes, always with a smile and an effort to please. In summary, this villa warrants 6 stars – not 5 and we are sure that anyone who chooses it will not regret it and enjoy every minute.

Thank you for the lovely stay! The view is amazing, we saw the best sunset from across the villa. The villa was easy to find and the restaurant nearby is an absolute must-try, the pasta and steak are delicious. Flavia was very helpful and friendly, she even helped us find a place for dinner and offered great suggestions, thank you!

Perched atop a mountain overlooking numerous cities and rolling terrain, it is hard to imagine anyone being disappointed. This villa estate has been owned by the same caring and dedicated family for many, many years. Their efforts to ensure all our needs were accommodated were Herculean. Would we stay there again ... absolutely! Rent a car or minibus within walking distance of of the Montecatini-Monsummano train station, because timely service from taxis down and back up the mountain could be challenging. Our group of 6 loved the remoteness, with convenient access to nearby small cities and wineries. The onsite restaurant (open Thurs-Sunday) is a "must do" experience. Special thanks to family owners Flavia and Julio for tending to our unique needs. mark

Wonderful house, comfortable but above all cared for in every detail. Spacious and air-conditioned rooms. Kitchen complete with everything. Mario is a friendly and caring host. Ideal for both families and a romantic getaway.
Alessia staying in Dorica. Aug 2024
Our family of 11 spent a week+ at the property and it was outstanding. Luxurious and comfortable at the same time. Daria the property manager was always available and even tried to help arrange transportation when we missed flight connections.
We were welcomed with delicious cheese and meats from Tuscany and wine from Valle Valle. After a long travel day from the US, we felt so cared for!
The pool was wonderful and a blessing in the heat of summer. The kids and adults spent most of our time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful grounds.
Laura from Invitation to Tuscany helped arrange a chef for a private birthday meal and a photographer for family photos.
We could not have imagined a better place to have a special family vacation!

My friend and I enjoyed four days at this beautiful, peaceful villa and it was absolutely perfect - we couldn't have asked for more! The house has excellent facilities and is clean, organised and comfortable. The pool was glorious and the central location allowed us to explore the region with trips to Lucca and Florence via train, whilst also having a home base to unwind. Francesco was a wonderful host, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. He was so helpful and friendly and provided us with a lot of helpful local knowledge to get the best out of our time there. We will definitely be back, thank you for a wonderful stay!

We have been staying for years now and we can only recommend this property. The apartments are exceptional, well maintained, organized in every detail. The owner always very kind, helpful and makes you feel really at home.
If you want to stay in San Minato with the family this structure is ideal

Very charming and great for everyone. Francesco is very kind and takes care of his guests. Excellent!
Absolutely great place! Such a nice historical house with, which has been greatly renovated! It keeps a very charming atmosphere! You feel the place is very special. Francesco and his family maintain the property at the highest level. Swimming pool is another highlight and a view on San Miniato castle from the pool creates top experience!

We had a wonderful holiday in Casa Carina, what a fabulous villa! Comfortable stylish with the most magnificent views. Mario was invaluable! He welcomed us and guided us up the steep but manageable path to the idyllic venue set on two levels with the pool which was a delight to regularly jump in and cool down. Our week was so peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable, Mario gave us such a warm and kind helpful welcome. Thank you Mario! Would highly recommend. A 5 star experience.
Alison, UK staying in Casa Carina. Aug 2024
We stayed a week at Casa Carina in early October, and had a wonderful time. The villa itself is spacious and charming (save the disconcerting ceramic mask on the wall), and its best feature is the covered veranda with a beautiful view across the valley to the nearby villages of Colelungo and Morre. I thoroughly recommend relaxing there as the sun sets, sipping wine and listening to the local wildlife (we heard cicadas, crickets, owls, other birds of prey, and wild boar) and watching the bats chase down the insects.
Mario is a lovely host and could not do enough for us. HIs wife made us some delicious lasagne and tiramisu which were waiting for us on our arrival along with a couple of bottles of local wine. Mario also offered to stock the villa with supplies from the local supermarket if we had so wished. He brought us firewood when we wanted it, and kindly took the time to make recommendations of local walks and restaurants, and to walk with us about the local agriculture (olives and vineyards). We happenned to be there around the start of the grape harvest, so he obtained a bottle of mosto from his friend and brought it to us (it was very tasty).
I have very few negative comments about our stay: The fixings of the toilet seat had been broken by a previous guest, and it would have been nice if the seat did not move about so much, but I believe that Mario was still looking for the necessary parts to fix it, so that's understandable. I would echo the comments made by other guests about the driveway. It takes about 8 minutes to get from the house to the main road, and he driveway is steep and heavily rutted in places, covered with loose stones and dust. We had a front-wheel drive rental car, which coped with it all, but I am glad the rental car came to us with considerable pre-existing scratches and dents, because I did not have to worry too much about chipping the paintwork on it. I would not have wanted to drive a shiny new car up and down that driveway, and rear-wheel drive would be a no-no. Apart from laying rough concrete for the length of the driveway, I'm not sure there's much that Mario could do about it. Overall, we had a wonderful week, thanks in no small part to Mario's kindness and readiness to help. I have no hesitation in recommending Casa Carina to all. But Mario, please get rid of the ceramic baby's-face mask to the right of the fireplace; I'm still having nightmares about it! ;-)
Andrew, UK staying in Casa Carina. Sep 2024
Casa Carina was everything we hoped it would be.
It’s a wonderful, peaceful, beautiful location. Despite the heat of August, the house wasn’t too hot.
Mario was an excellent host - he helped us with the drive leading up to the house, and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He even helped with an issue with our car, and gave our girls the opportunity to meet his horses.
Altogether we had a wonderful time and could not fault it.
Priscilla and family from the UK staying in Casa Carina. Aug 2024
Casa Carina is a smaller villa full of rustic charm, located well off the beaten track. We had a super week here, surrounded by the sights and sounds of unspoiled nature - in particular there were lots of butterflies. The pool was ideal, very refreshing on a hot day and the villa had pleasant outdoor spaces to relax and unwind, along with pretty walks on the doorstep. There was ample room for the four of us (good to have the two en-suite bathrooms) and we experienced it all in some of the best and worst weather. We were glad we to have a pack of cards and decent TV with Casting option when the rain was pouring down and the wind was howling!
Mario was an excellent host, always responsive and able to offer help and advice as required. We were very grateful to have a selection of wine and groceries waiting for us on our arrival after a long day of travelling. The kitchen could have been slightly better equipped but it was adequate for our needs. We cooked a few meals ourselves and also enjoyed eating out at a couple of excellent local restaurants (Osteria La Cruccola in Acqualoreto and Kairos in Izzalini).
We made trips to Todi (the nearest town), Assisi, Orvieto and Florence (a long but brilliant day). The duomo in Orvieto was particularly awe-inspiring! We visited Trebotti organic winery on our return from Orvieto for a fascinating tour and tasting experience. Definitely recommend!
Do heed the advice regarding the track to the villa - it has some extremely steep gradients to negotiate which are not for the faint hearted! A 4x4 would cope fine (would definitely recommend), but if you have a front wheel drive hatchback like we did then you might want to disable the traction control when you leave the main road. We got used to it though and it's worth the effort for the view when you get there - all part of the adventure!

Our stay at Villa Cortona was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the most wonderful hosts, Alessandra and Federico. Their hospitality and attention to detail made our week-long stay an unforgettable experience for our entire family. Alessandra went above and beyond in helping us plan our wedding, ensuring that every detail was perfect. Her dedication and passion for her work shone through in every aspect of the event. She also organized other delightful activities, such as a pasta-making class, which added a unique and authentic touch to our Italian adventure. Alessandra's meticulous planning and warm personality truly made our wedding an absolute dream come true. Federico was equally fantastic, always available to assist with any request and ensuring that we felt at home. Together, Alessandra and Federico created an atmosphere of warmth and joy that made our stay at Villa Ivana truly special. The villa itself is stunning, with breathtaking views and luxurious amenities. Every corner of the property exudes charm and elegance, making it the perfect setting for a memorable celebration. Thank you, Alessandra and Federico, for making our stay at Villa an experience we will cherish forever. Your kindness, professionalism, and dedication made our time in Cortona an absolute highlight of our lives. We cannot recommend this Villa highly enough and look forward to returning one day to relive the wonderful memories.

A magical two weeks at Villa Cortona. My wife and I celebrated our 70th birthdays by taking our children and grandchildren to Tuscany for two weeks. My grandson thought we were living in a palace and asked if there was a moat! Alessandra and Federico are without exception, the warmest most attentive hosts we've ever experienced among the dozens of rental properties we've engaged over the years. We asked many questions and made a few requests during our stay and they responded every time immediately, fulfilling each one. The housekeeping is immaculate. Each bedroom is unique and amazing as are the bathrooms. Complete privacy on this large estate yet close enough that some of our adult children walked into Cortona one day. The outdoor canopied patio is spectacular and we enjoyed most of our meals there. The pool is huge and perfectly maintained. This was a bucket list trip for my family and this Villa met and exceeded our high expectations.

Wow! Dream vacation in Tuscany! The entire family spent the entire week in this amazing Tuscan Villa and enjoyed every minute of it. We were a total of 15 people of all ages and everyone just loved it. The villa is very clean and fit well with the surrounding. The pool is big and fun and the area around the Villa was great for a walk or a jog. The Owners are fantastic! I definitely recommend this place!

We absolutely loved our stay at Antica. Samuele is a fantastic host who has ensured that the Villa truly provides the manorial experience for those seeking a cultural holiday in the Italian countryside. The house is very clean with attentive staff who can help with everything from cleaning to sorting out food. It is very large and we were a very large group of 12 and comfortably fitted. The gardens are an avid horticulturalist's dream and spectacularly maintained. Moreover, Samuele and his family are fantastic tour guides, with intimate knowledge of the area and are able to make the best recommendations for restaurants, beaches, cultural icons to visit etc. We cannot recommend more this villa. Thank you Samuele for hosting us at your incredible villa.

This large format property provides a great base for relaxtion and exploring the Lucca region. All bedrooms are the same size and ensuite, making it easy for groups. The pool area and grounds are made for enjoyment.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Unbedingt bei Savini Tartufi Trüffel kaufen, nur 3 Kilometer entfernt

Just wanted to send you a note to let you know we had a wonderful time the other week at Lake Como! What an amazing location! We didn’t really want to leave the house it was so beautiful there with the view. We did manage however to se some of the beautiful gardens and villas as well as take a tour around the lake by a boat Greta arranged for us. Thank you for all your assistance. We look forward to our return.
Melissa Y and family staying in Archimede.
We loved Archimede - we stayed here for two weeks for a big family reunion with grandparents, two siblings' families and grandchildren with ages that varied from 20 to 1 year old. It suited us all perfectly, the house is spacious with really large living areas for us all to eat and chat together, with the airy terrace over the lake and close to the barbecue a popular place for evening meals. The pool and Jacuzzi have stunning views and were very popular for relaxed catch-ups, sitting in the bubbles with a drink.
The surrounding area has some fabulous restaurants as well as plenty of activities for the more energetic in the family. I got a lot of cycling done, and also braved canyoning in Val Bodengo with the younger adults. There were boat trips, relaxing walks and an excursion into the higher alpine valleys by funicular.
A wonderful villa in a great spot, I can highly recommend it.
Dan Wrightson from ITT staying in Archimede. Aug 2016We had a fabulous time here and you made it a very special exeperience for us. Your place is beautiful and the meals and the service we received was excellent. Thank you for everything.
John, UK staying in Salvestro. May 2022
We really enjoyed our stay and will likely return in the future. Great accommodation with nice private pool, next to a small village with good traditional restaurant (no pizza). The Pool is not really overlooked and has an open outlook, only slightly spoilt by a pylon.
Views from the Villa were great, looking all the way to Volterra in the distance. The accommodation worked really well for us as a party of 6, but we left 3 rooms unused on this trip. It would work for a party of 12, (with 2 twin rooms for kids). The villa has one large living area with semi screened kitchen, large dining, and comfortable living space. This opens to a terrace with lounge seating and dining area which looks to the sunset.
The bedrooms all had plenty of space and good bathrooms. The two doubles on a lower level were cooler compared to the one on the upper floor which would need the AC on a hotter month. There is a high roof terrace for long distant viewing accessed from one of the bedrooms.
The customer service was great from Chinzia who lives nearby and sorted minor issues quickly.
We have stayed in many Tuscan Villas over the last 19 years and all agree we would highly recommend this one for families who want a central location to all the historic sites, amenities close by that allow traditional dinner (without driving), and a nice private pool for relaxation.
Anthony Kettle staying in Valdera. May 2026
The property was exactly what is advertised. It provided six excellently appointed bedrooms and comfortable bathrooms. The dining options inside and outside provided a setting for memorable lunches and dinners with stupendous views. The kitchen was adequately equipped to provided us with an assortment of meals that extended long past sunset.
The pool and grounds were immaculately maintained.
The little village of Iano provided an outlet for dinners, coffees, emergency supplies of wine and a departure and destination point for walks into the Tuscan countryside.
The site provided stupendous sunset views across the Tuscan fields and hills. Famous towns like Volterra and San Gimignano proved to be only about 30 min away. The routes were studded with wine tasting opportunities. Supplies of food and drink were available from the local town of Montaione.
The support by the owners and the team at Invitation to Tuscany was always immediate thoughtful and informative. We spent an incredible week that met all our expectations.

We stayed at Valdera for a family celebration and had a wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble for Cinzia the owner who was delightful. The villa is well equipped and in a beautiful setting. The local village shop is great for basic supplies, coffees and pastries. And the local restaurant is GREAT DEFINITELY RECOMMEND A STAY HERE
Sally and family staying in Valdera. Jul 2025
We had brilliant week at Villa Valdera. Laura was extremely helpful before we left in organising a walking tour of Florence and advising on the best way to get there. She also booked a couple of meals for us in the villa. The first of these meals was not quite what we had hoped for so Laura was very happy to cancel the remaining meals for us. The villa was very clean, well equipped and in the perfect location. The many outside spaces were used by all and allowed privacy for all of our travelling group. We loved the views, close by restaurants and coffee shop. A hire car is a must to explore this beautiful area. Thank you for a wonderful week.
Rachel and family, UK staying in Valdera. Jul 2025
Excellent location. Great pool. Kitchen equipment rather dated apart from washing machine which appeared fairly new. Some quirky furnishing which added to charm. Air-con inadequate to 40 degree heat but provided some relief A comfortable villa with stunning views.
Penny and family from UK staying in Valdera. Aug 2024
Lovely villa which we thoroughly enjoyed and can not fault at all! The location was fantastic, and the shop/cafe up the road was incredible - every day for perfect ice cream and coffee!
We did really miss having a tour of the villa, and there was no cleaning facilities like a dustpan and brush, enough bin bags, basic kitchen cleaning equipment - with a baby it was needed! There should have been changing of towels during the week, but we didn't have this either - so that was a bit of a disappointment.
Katie from the UK staying in Valdera. Jun 2024
Our family of 7 had the chance to stay in this villa for a week and had a wonderful time. The villa is spacious and well stocked in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the ample outside seating is picturesque. The owner of the the villa lives just a few minutes away and she was always available to answer and questions and assist when necessary. Villa is in a great location to explore Tuscany.
Juli & family staying in Valdera. May 2024
The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful villa and surroundings. Everything is well maintained, and comfortable for all guests with en suite bathtooms. The owner is charming and easily accessible for questions or help. Walking distance to a small shop for fresh meats/cheeses/fruit etc and a small restaurant. 35 minutes drive to San Gimignano, 1 hour to Siena and take the train from Empoli station (40 minutes) for a stress free journey to florence. It was perfect.
Ian from UK staying in Valdera. Jun 2024
We had a fantastic time at Valdera. The people we met in association with the villa were so friendly and helpful. Any contact we made always had a quick response with a smile.
Valdera was spotless and the bedding and towels were of a good standard. An expected nice touch was the offer of a change of towels mid week. The sun towels were also really lovely to use.
It was great to be able to walk to the village shop and the restaurant was of a much better standard than I imagined it would be, which is lovely if you return a few times. The chef was also really friendly.
The location of Valdera is brilliant. We had a great time visiting the towns and cities (this is our first time to Tuscany and the first time in a private villa).
Dan kindly recommended a restaurant for us to go to on our route from Arrezzo to Iano which we couldn't access as there was an old car rally taking place in the village of the restaurant. Unsure of where to eat, we carried on and ended up asking in the Tourist Office at Gambassi for a recommendation. I don't know whether it was the relief of finding somewhere pleasant to eat with extreme hunger 😊 but we all really enjoyed sitting in and eating in Beltempo Ristorante www.beltemporistorante.com. It is a new modern restaurant in the town and it was extremely pleasant. I would say it is great for lunch and is informal. It was one of those places where you hope they succeed as the service, enthusiasm, food and atmosphere was lovely.
C.B. and family staying in Valdera. Feb 2017
Wonderful views, fantastic facilities A perfect Tuscan Villa capable of sleeping 8 people, even though we are only 4! Very comfortable beds, great bathrooms, kitchen fully equipped and washing facilities. Swimming pool, although too cold to use it! Situated in the heart of the Tuscan hills with so Kant interesting places to visit close by. Train to Florence, Siena very easy too.
Paul and Guest staying in Valdera. Aug 2017
We had a wonderful time at Valdera. It's a lovely house in such a beautiful place! The house was great and we were impressed with how well the gardens and pool were tended. It felt remote enough but great to be able to walk to a shop and restaurant. My only comment would be that it could be better equipped with 'basics' - bin liners, food storage bags or boxes, matches etc. Also non-breakable stuff to take down to the pool.
We ate at Antico Borgo in the village. It was nice to be able to walk and it's a straightforward restaurant with pizza and pasta. Lovely views from the outside area. We made the mistake of not booking on the last night so had to eat inside - it seems to get busy at weekends. We had breakfast in the other cafe - La Chicca, which was nice. The village shop is really good and well stocked, although expensive compared with the supermarket.
Dan asked for comments about our hotel in Lucca. We stayed in L'Antica Bifore which we loved. It is a four room b&b in the centre and our room was in part of a medieval tower. It was very relaxed, a friendly couple and lovely breakfast. Parking not very convenient if you had lots of luggage. We had dinner at da Pasquale which was the best meal of our trip. Pasquale was the most amazing, enthusiastic and knowledgeable host who looked after his guests so well. He gave us a bottle of olive oil which we enjoyed through our holiday!
J.S. staying in Valdera. Feb 2017This trip was all the more wonderful with the addition of your great energies. We missed you on the days we were out touring! I can't imagine how much we'll miss you now that we're leaving. Thank you for your smiles, unbelievable food, great stories, and putting up with our loud dance parties. When we remember this faboulous trip, we will always think of you. Hopefully our paths cross again. This was truly unforgettable thank you so much for everything. This has been the best vacation of my life. You made it wonderful than I could ever imagined – your wonderful meals and hospitality were incredible. I hope you come to visit us in Arizona! Thank you for an amazing two weeks. I loved every moment
Jasmine, US staying in Salviati. Oct 2022What a lovely experience to spend a week at Salviati for my 60th birthday. My friends and I had a gloriuos time. We loved the food, the home, the grounds and pool. Giovanna and Pietro were efficient, talented, kind and patient. Arrivederci!

We had a wonderful time. It is indeed a lovely spot. It was all that we could have hoped for. The views and location were beautiful. Quiet, relaxing and comfortable. Antonella was so friendly, kind and helpful. Luciano , the chef, was wonderful and our meal was delicious and our cooking lesson was superb! We also enjoyed our tour of the cellars and wine tasting. Elena was great. The train to Florence was easy to get and Florence was everything we thought it would be. We were lucky enough to get a lift back up from Pontassieve to our accommodation. That would be the only drawback if you don’t have a car and have spent a whole day walking around Florence. We lucked out though! It was a perfect few days so thank you.
Laura & Emma from UK staying in La Ronda. Apr 2024
This is such a beautiful spot, so restful and within easy reach of wonderful towns to visit. Including the nearest walkable Casole D'Elsa which we loved visiting - it has restaurants, museums and shops and seems to be thriving with various generations living there.
The family that own this property are so delightful and decent. We had everything we needed and the pool area is a haven of peace and tranquility surrounded by beautiful trees and the most comfortable sunbeds for reading. We were three - me, my daughter and her boyfriend and everyone loved Agriturismo L' Agresto. I will definitely return for another restorative holiday there.
Thanks to Invitation to Tuscany for recommending the most perfect place.

Mandorlo was part of our dream vacation to Chianti! It’s a picturesque property within walking distance to a quaint town with sweeping views of vineyards and a valley The villa is well maintained and appointed; comfortable and clean. It was perfect for my husband and I. The family who owns and operates the villa adds to the richness of our visit as they are friendly and make you feel at home. I hope to return someday!

Mandorlo was simply perfect! The small farm cottage was great for two people, with plenty of room, great amenities. Being situated in the heart of rural Tuscany was a real delight. What made the experience was the fantastic pool which was well maintained and great for the hot summer. We also enjoyed some wine from the farm, which was also super. Staff were very helpful and friendly!

The villa, nestled in the Tuscan hills, leaves nothing to be desired (very well and comfortably furnished, with a magnificent view). It has enough space for 6-8 people and a huge pool. The garden is beautiful, and you can always find a shady spot. We were able to unwind and truly relax this week. It's about a 20-minute drive to the shops or restaurants. However, we were reluctant to leave the property for excursions because we felt so comfortable there.

Beautiful setting, grounds and views. Loved the house and setting. Chef Barbara was excellent and a real treat! One bedroom is a loft bedroom with bathroom below it…wasn’t for someone older. Need to have a car or have a driver as a little difficult to get around without. Virginia was extremely helpful with our arrangements. Highly recommend this property.
