Another lovely stay at Casa Allioni, such peace and tranquility in a beautiful rural setting with stunning views but within walking distance of good restaurants and within easy drive of the attractions of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. Beverly is a great host, so helpful and knowledgeable of the area, always willing to assist with restaurants bookings etc. A great place to relax and enjoy all Tuscany has to offer.
Pauline, UK staying in Casa Allioni. Sep 2024
We had a great week in August at Casa Allioni. The farmhouse is charming, with easily enough space for our family of five, and set in beautiful countryside. We really enjoyed eating outside (the house has several options for this) and taking in the stunning views in all directions. The pool (a few steps up from the house) was fantastic.Beverly is a great host - welcoming, knowledgeable and full of suggestions on what to see in the area that she knows so well - and we we were even lucky to able to enjoy tomatoes from her garden. We found trips to Siena, Arezzo and Montalcino all within easy reach and there are several nice restaurants nearby.
Alex & family from UK staying in Casa Allioni. Aug 2023
We had a fantastic fortnight. Beverly is a wonderful source of local information and restaurant recommendations. The pool and house have beautiful views across the Arno valley. The location is great, with Florence, Arezzo, Cortona and Siena all within easy distance by car or train.

Just enjoyed a lovely week at Casa Alloni. The farmhouse is in a wonderful setting, amazing views from every part of the property but the view from the farmhouse kitchen was my favourite.
It was ideally located for exploring, Florence, Siena, Arezzo and the Chianti region.
Beverly and Mango were really welcoming and made us feel right at home. Beverly was very helpful with her local knowledge and provided us with info on train times, places to visit, where to eat and shop.
Local restaurants were excellent. The pool is lovely, an excellent place to relax and enjoy the views and soak up the atmosphere of rural Tuscany. Would highly recommend this Tuscan farmhouse experience.

Casa Allioni is exactly what we were looking for….Tuscan villa, privacy, swimming pool, easy access to restaurants, and sightseeing.
Beverly (the owner) lives on the property (in a separate apartment over a detached garage) but as she says,..she tries to remain invisible at all times…which she is. However she is most pleasant, knowable, interesting, helpful, fluent in Italian and English as she is originally from America.
The villa is fully equipped…especially the kitchen. Has a washing machine available to guests. The pool is excellent, very private and has a magnificent view of Tuscany.
Wonderful place to stay!

I just wanted to let you know that we had an absolutely fantastic family holiday last August in Casa Allioni. The house and pool were just perfect for us and we enjoyed a nice combination of pool days and sightseeing trips to the neighboring towns and villages. Post covid it was the ideal holiday to show our children such a beautiful region - their favorites were the local restaurants Perbacco and Osteria dei Vignaioli !
Beverly was an excellent host and made us feel completely at home throughout our stay. We found the facilities at the house to be of a high standard, in particular the kitchen is well equipped. Overall we had a really super holiday - thank you !

We had a lovely week staying at Casa Allioni, it had all of the rustic charm you would hope for. From the exceptional Tuscan views to the wonderful hospitality provided by Beverley who was always discreetly on hand to ensure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as we could possibly want. For a self catering experience this was one of the best properties we have ever stayed at, everything you could possibly need was available, a real plus. The pool was lovely too with plenty of shady corners for when things got a bit warm. The wildlife that often frequented the grounds at dusk and dawn added to the charm making for a totally lovely and unforgettable stay the whole family would totally recommend, definitely worth a revisit.

We had a lovely week’s holiday as Casa Allioni. The house is a home from home complete with lovely Mango the cat. There are beautiful views across the valley from the house and the pool, making it an excellent sunbathing spot! It’s a great place to explore some of the main attractions of Tuscany - Siena, Perugia, Florence etc. more locally there are very pretty villages to explore. Beverly made us feel very welcome in her home and we would love to come back - it was an amazing week that flew by!

My family spent a lovely week in this quintessential Tuscan villa built in the 1600s. Beverly was a wonderful host and had some essentials and fruits and flowers waiting for us on arrival. She helped us to arrange a cooking lesson with Martina and Victoria that culminated in a beautiful dinner on the outside dining area that we will remember forever. We traveled to many local sites including Siena, Cortona, Assisi and Arezzo. The pool was beautiful and a nice respite from the heat and the house was rustic in a Tuscan way, yet very comfortable and spacious. I highly recommend this place and would encourage you to come and stay as long as possible. We hope to be back someday!

We had the great pleasure of staying at Casa Allioni for a week in August ’21 and it was fantastic. The house and grounds perched on top of the hill overlooking the valley is a breathtaking sight. The home has been beautifully restored keeping the history alive but offering all of the amenities you would expect at home. The pool offered a nice respite from the travels to the towns in this magnificent area. The house is also a short walk from the village with two very good restaurants.
Beverly’s place is a great value considering all that is offered and that can be enjoyed. She is also a fantastic hostess and the benefit of her being around the week we visited was wonderful. She helped us arrange a few catered dinners and the work the team did for my wife’s birthday will never be forgotten by all of us in attendance.
Beverly thank you and we have officially adopted you into our clan and look forward to another visit soon. This is a 5-Star review for a 5-star experience.

Imagine a “classic” Tuscany house updated to meet your modern expectations! Casa Allioni has all that, except for a/c. We found during our month there in August/September, that even hot days spent at the beautiful pool, gave way to cooler evenings easily managed with fans. The setting is beautiful, with views of hillsides, olive groves, and vineyards all around. Location ideal for access within an hour to many sights. The owner, Beverly, was super concerned about our comfort, and extremely pleasant and easy to have around when she was there. She’s also good for getting advice about local stuff. Restaurant at bottom of hill is wonderful, but not walkable for anyone who has trouble going back uphill after a meal.
K.T. from USA staying in Casa Allioni.

Our family has returned to the US. What memories we have of our 3 weeks in Italy. We all agree that our week at Casa Allioni was the highlight. You are a gracious hostess. Thank you! The cooking lesson with Gabriella & Antonio was such fun and delicious. Martina & Victoria’s dinner on Friday evening will be a beautiful memory for all of us. Visiting your local olive oil & wine store with you was fun along with the side trip to Pergine. The view from your home was breathtaking. We could have stayed a lot longer!!! It was such a pleasure to meet you. We all hope to return someday.....so we’ll see you all soon. Take care of yourself. All our best, Jill and Dan S. PS - A big “thank you” to JoAnne for recommending and setting up our visit to the Felsina Winery. Beautiful setting, great wines. Thank you!

thank you so much for recommending this beautiful villa to us. We could not be happier. Beverly is the perfect hostess, and the pics do not do the place justice.

To celebrate a special birthday a group of four of us stayed in Casa Allioni for a week. It was everything we hoped for. The villa itself is both spacious and homely. There are a number of good outdoor spaces with great views to relax and unwind. The pool is fantastic, big enough for all of us to enjoy, in privacy. The village is nearby at the bottom of the hill, there is a small grocery shop adjacent to a restaurant; on most days it’s open from 8am to 12.30, then 4.30 to 7pm. The owner of the villa, Beverly, is very friendly and helped us out when we had any questions. As it’s the countryside, do come prepared for mosquito bites! The products we brought from the UK didn’t seem to deter the pests, so you may need to buy something local. We were very happy we chose Casa Allioni for our holiday, it was a special stay, and can highly recommend it.

the Villa was terrific and exactly as advertised. My family had a wonderful time and the views and surrounding areas were terrific. I will be back!!
Lyn did a wonderful job helping to prepare for my mother’s party and special thanks to Beverly Katz and Martina for all their help as well.
Perfect holiday, great house.
Thanks again!

Hard to believe we've been home for over a week. It was so hard to leave Beverly's Hill!
Here are some highlights....
due to travel challenges, we arrived very late at night. Nevertheless, Beverly was there to help us find our way to the villa and welcome us to the area. She was exceptionally welcoming and available for whatever we needed. We even had some essentials in the fridge and pantry to tide us over until we could make it to the market.
when we awoke the next morning, the scene outside the kitchen Windows was spectacular! The best part of this beautiful villa.
we really loved the convenience of the small market and fabulous restaurants right at the bottom of the hill (Perbacco and the Osteria).
we spent a day traveling to Arezzo. Definitely something to see.
travel to Firenze is really convenient. We rented a car and had no issues.
the cooking lesson / meal at the villa by Martina was a real treat!
the villa is very comfortable. Plenty of space, inside and out. The pool was our favorite place to hang out as it had the best views.
Beverly is a lovely and generous host. She made the week real special for us.
I would recommend this rental to anyone!
K.B. and family staying in Casa Allioni. Nov 2016
Service rating : Information received prior to our holiday was exactly what was required. Some good local information that was not available in the tour books and a real personal service from the staff at Invitation to Tuscany Ltd. Product: Casa Allioni was even better than the promotional literature described. Ideally situated on the hill with beautiful views overlooking the valley. We often sat on the terrace watching the stars, whilst drinking the local wine and eating the sumptious olives grown nearby.
Beverley was an amazing host. She was not overbearing, but we knew she was nearby if needed. A truly lovely person.
The house itself was beautiful inside and out with a wonderful rustic charm. The kitchen was our favourite room and inspired my wife and I to create some local dishes (the olive oil flowed).
We visited many of the local sights including Sienna and San Gimignano. I would though recommend a trip to Arezzo, which was not visited by as many tourists.
We only stayed a week, we wished it could have been longer.

We loved our stay at Casa Alliona. Beverley was a perfect host and even though she lives part time in her independent studio she kept to herself. We did invite her for wine and canapes one evening and found her most interesting as she told us about her husband who had written several books on WW2 in Rome where she now resides. Very handy for day trips and our only regret was that we didn't spend more time in the villa!

Casa allioni is a lovely family home with beautiful views within walking distance of several restaurants. We especially enjoyed the cookery book collection, the film library, pictures, pool and being surrounded by vines and olives. The owner is very generous with her own produce and we delighted in her wine, olive oil, tomatoes and figs. Arezzo and Siena are within easy driving distance and with a motorway fairly close it was easy to get to Florence. We have two criticisms, the first is that the directions to find the house were not very good although the owner very helpfully came to find us and the other concerned the beds and bedding for whilst perfectly adequate it would have been nice to have pure cotton sheets and better mattresses.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our restful stay at allioni. Beverly, the owner, was very welcoming and went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable in our home away from home. She even took us on a short tour of Pieve a Presciano and a neighboring town, pointing out restaurants, the pharmacy, and markets. This lovely home exudes all that Tuscany means to us--perfect vistas out every door and window of olive trees, grape vines, wildflowers and rolling hills. Gardens and pots of geraniums, petunias, and herbs abound. We love t o cook and the kitchen was not only well-equipped with modern appliances, but was also warm and inviting in a typically Tuscan way. It was thoughtfully stocked with staples, spices, condiments, olive oil from the casa and "first night food”. After walking to and from the village for lunch, in the evening, we grilled some delicious meals in the outdoor wood burning oven and enjoyed eating them outside under the spacious loggia. In addition, Allioni is perfectly located for trips to arezzo, Firenze, and Siena--even Montalcino is not too far for a day trip. There is a small train station very nearby which is on the main line to and from Rome and Firenze. The pool area is lovely--too bad it was still too cool during our visit to properly enjoy. We were appreciative instead of the availability of firewood and several crackling fires in the living room fireplace.

Our family stayed at the very beautiful Casa Allioni in July 2012. It is a simply stunning villa in a fantastic location. The villa has all the creature comforts you would want to find with so many extras. This might be due to the fact that this is someones home rather than a holiday let but this doesn't make you feel uncomfortable or intrusive in anyway. We marvelled at the way the owner had furnished the villa and the many artistic touches which felt so Tuscan. My daughter felt that the pictures on the website didn't do the villa justice and I would agree. The pool is fantastic. We were lucky to come during a heatwave and without the pool, the stay would have been very uncomfortable but instead we were able to spend every day playing in the pool after our brief sightseeing tours to nearby Siena and Florence or indeed trip to the Prada outlet store which is only down the road (we only walked in, looked at the price tags and walked back out again but each to their own..).There is a great outdoor dining table where you do want to have your dinner in the evening if you are eating in, if not, there are plenty of restaurants in the little village down the road which was also so nice! And hardly any other tourists. The owner, Beverly, absolutely added to our stay. Not only is she a very interesting and clearly giving person but also organised a cooking lesson for us all as well as a wine tasting evening with extras. We loved both.We hope to one day return.

The villa was larger than expected and very comfortable. The boys particularly enjoyed both the pool (which was very well maintained and kept clean) and the extensive DVD collection. Beverly, the owner, was present and available to call on for advice throughout our stay which we found helpful. The views from the villa were breathtaking and truly Tuscan. A short walk provided us with both a local grocery shop and two local restaurants which served lovely food. Thank you for a relaxing stay.

What a fabulous location and such an interesting and beautifully restored villa. Many a peaceful hour was spent in the shade of the loggia, interspersed with dips in the pool. The villa has marvellous views and is situated close to Pieve a Presciano which has two good restaurants, with many more in the vicinity. Beverly, the owner, was a warm, engaging and generous hostess - welcome pack of food, wine and her olive oil, access to her vegetable garden and herb bed - and was concerned about our enjoyment and the quality of our experience. The villa is full of character and interest and was very comfortable, with many alternative locations for sitting and relaxing in the shade, or for enjoying the view. This part of Tuscany is less touristy than Chiantishire but is a good location for following the Piero della Francesca trail.

We stayed for a week and Beverley was the most gracious and accommodating host. A wonderful villa with everything you could need or want for a week of rest and relaxation - just a joy to stay at. We would recommend to family and friends. We stayed with our three young children and have great memories of a fantastic week.
Mrs. E.B. and family, Australia staying in Casa Allioni. Feb 2013
We are a family of 5 with teenage kids. My parents also joined and 7 people was a bit cramped. This would be perfect for 5-6 people. The house is at the top of a stone road and set amongst olive trees. The views are spectacular and the house has a rustic feel. A bit old fashioned but everything works and the setting is exceptional. The pool area is great too. Our only complaint was the flies and bugs but there is not a lot the owner Beverley could do about them! Beverley was really helpful and great company and full of stories of her interesting life in Italy. We did day trips to Sienna, Arezzo, and Florence, all easy to access. My daughter went horse riding 10 minutes away and we visited a local vineyard. Highly recommend.
Mr. M.S. and family, UK staying in Casa Allioni. Dec 2013
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was perfect. We had a group of 5 and the house was a perfect size for us. The pictures don't do the views justice!!! From the beginning: The address did not register in our GPS, so we had t follow Beverly's directions, which were flawless. We arrived at around 8pm and Beverly had already stocked the kitchen with bottled water, yogurts, juice, cookies, bread, a bottle of bubbly and other essentials. It made it easy to avoid going to the store that night!!!! Beverly mentioned she was headed into town to meet a friend for dinner and asked if we wanted her to let the restaurant know we would be on our way. We went to dinner at Osteria dei Vignaioli and we greeted very warmly. My father-in-law was very excited by the smell from the kitchen, indicating that it reminded him of his grandmother's house growing up. This was one of the best meals we had in all of Tuscany. The Villa: Spectacular views, unique kitchen, great pool, Owner that goes above and beyond. The Location: At the top of a hill from town, the villa is a short, but challenging walk into town. In town, there are a couple restaurants, a bar and a small store. We drove to Siena, San Gimnano, Florence, Montepulciano and had a wine tour tasting Brunellos in the Montalcino regions. The highlight: Beverly's assistant came by with her mother to cook dinner for us. It was a fantastic and one of the best meals we had! They roasted chicken from her mother's farm, termpura fried vegetables, roasted potatoes, and a homemade apple tart. It was a great night!!! I would recommend this villa to anyone looking for relaxation, a beautiful place to end the day exploring Tuscany.

After two wonderful weeks, I cried when I had to leave Casa Allioni. A lovely home filled with charm. The accommodations are excellent: very comfy beds, spacious rooms, art filled walls, excellent kitchen and bathrooms. The farmhouse is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, wild flowers and wild life. The views were ever changing and beautiful, the pool refreshing and the air was sweet with spring blooms. Perfectly located to explore the three important Tuscan towns of Arezzo, Siena and Florence, plus the many lovely hilltop villages that Bella Italia has to offer. Kudos to all who make Casa Allioni such a wonderful spot.

We loved our week at Casa Allioni. The setting, high above a tiny Tuscan hill town, was spectacular, amidst olive trees and ripened grapes (and a great pool), overlooking a beautiful valley and hills across the way. The house was beautiful -- 17th century charm with all the modern conveniences. The owner is incredibly helpful and generous. Definitely order in a meal your first day, and at least once more -- four courses of local ingredients and wine. Day trips to Sienna and Florence are expected, but also head for the Chianti Classico trail for an abundance of vineyards and tastings. We couldn't imagine a more idealic house to enjoy the wonders and beauty of Italy.
Manager Response: So pleased you enjoyed it! We love the view from the pool, with the house below and the hills stretching away into the distance!

My husband, 18 year old son and I stayed at Casa Allioni for one week, and it wasn't long enough!!! From the very first day, we knew that we were staying somewhere very special. Beverly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as coffee, milk, , bread yogurt and pasta were provided for us. The beds were crisp and comfortable, the movie selection was fantastic and the pool was delicious! It was just the place for escaping our busy every-day lives! We hope to return some day in the not-to-distant future!

What a wonderful spot high on the mountain with beautiful vistas of the Arno River Valley. Spacious, comfortable and convenient in the Casa; plenty of room for privacy. Beverly lives above the garage but you will hardly know she's there unless you need her. After house rentals around the world, we are done exploring. Hopefully we can rebook at Allioni ad infinitum...

If you want to stay at a quintessential Tuscan hilltop house, choose Casa Allioni. Perched high on a hill overlooking olive groves and vineyards, this lovely stone house is perfect for a retreat with family or friends and well-located for day trips to most Tuscan destinations. The house is nicely decorated and very comfortable to be in, with all of the appliances necessary to make living easy. And, the owner couldn't be more helpful and friendly. You won't be sorry if you choose Casa Allioni.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Allioni. We loved the house and felt instantly at home and comfortable. We took advantage of all of the outside seating options, and found that the pool was the perfect spot to cool off after a hot day. The location of this property was just right as a base for sightseeing trips to many of the Tuscan towns in the area, but we also enjoyed spending time in the village, shopping in the general store and eating at one of the restaurants. We appreciated the attentiveness of the property owner. She did not intrude in anyway, but was very willing to assist us, making sure that we knew that the village store would be open for a limited time on a public holiday, and helping with reservations for dinner. We will recommend this property to our friends.
Mrs. K.F. and family, UK staying in Casa Allioni. Nov 2012
We can't thank (the owner) enough for letting us stay in her beautiful home in Tuscany. It exceeded all our dreams and expectations. Not only were we graciously welcomed personally by her, we were delighted to have Martina cook for us on our first night in Tuscany. After traveling with young children, Martina alleviated the stress of having to shop and cook on our arrival. The food was amazing! The portions were generous! The prices were beyond reasonable! And the fact that Martina cleaned up too was a bonus to our first Tuscan experience. It was so amazing to me and my family that we had her come back two more times!
Her house is beautiful. She were so helpful and attentive to our needs. Her kindness made us feel like we were right at home. Taking us to the local store, helping us find a stroller (after we forgot ours in America), and making sure we had everything we needed was so genuine. And staying in Tuscany, swimming each day overlooking the Tuscan hillside was a dream come true! We will remember this week for the rest of our lives. We only hope to come back again and visit!.
Mrs. A.S. and family, USA staying in Casa Allioni. Feb 2012
We loved staying at Casa Allioni calling it home during our two weeks in Tuscany. The house is located in a great area and close to all the cities that we visited, and we did see quite a few. We especially loved visiting Arezzo; in fact, we went there twice. Other cities that were special to us were Florence, Sienna, Anghiari and La Verna.
Casa Allioni was certainly what we needed during our time in that region-------waking up each morning and opening our kitchen windows to view the fog coming through the mountains was inspiring. The house itself was very comfortable, and the gardens were so welcoming and restful. Loved the fact that we were able to use some of the herbs that were left in the vegetable garden. Even though we didn't take advantage of the pool, we did spend time sitting around it......Bella!!!!
Our hostess, Beverly Katz, was very helpful and introduced us to Pieve a Presciano our very first day there. She was always available for questions and hints about the area. We took advantage of the well-stock grocery store right at the bottom of our road, and we loved dining at Il Cacciatore, 15 minutes from our house on the way to Arezzo and The Osteria right in Pieve a Presciano. I would recommend both of them very highly.
Mrs. T.M. and family, USA staying in Casa Allioni. May 2013
We had an amazing two weeks at Casa Allioni. Nestled on a hillside covered with vineyards, olive trees, wild flowers and wild life, we felt as if had landed in an Italian rustic paradise. The accommodations were perfect. The beds were incredibly comfortable; sheets and towels in abundance; an excellent kitchen; lovely farm tables for eating indoors and out. Casa Allioni is not a typical vacation rental, it is someone's home that is filled with eclectic art work and tasteful furnishings. The views from the pool and the terraces are magnificent, and we spent many an evening sipping wine and watching the sunset over the mountains and fields below us. The location is fabulous. We took day trips to Arezzo, Sienna and Florence. Spent time in Chianti country and wandering around little towns stopping to take in the beautiful vistas that appear at every turn of the road knowing that we would be returning to our little corner of Tuscany.
I'd recommend Casa Allioni to anyone wanting to explore Tuscany with an authentic Tuscan farmhouse as a base, or if you want some peace and quiet in Bella Italia you'll be perfectly content. I'm already planning my next visit.
Mrs. T.S. and family, USA staying in Casa Allioni. Feb 2014
With apologies for the late reply, this is just a quick note to say what a fantastic time my wife and I had at Casa Allioni. The holiday was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and, despite only mentioning it in passing, we were greeted with a vase of fresh flowers and a bottle of red wine. We arrived in the dark so we didn't see the views until the next morning. This was our second surprise. The scenery was beautiful and the views across the valley to the villages and hills beyond were stunning. Unusually for us, by Sunday evening we were already relaxed and our one week stay felt like two. Please pass on our thanks to Beverly for her kindness and providing us the opportunity to share both the location and the story of her home at Casa Allioni.
P.S. Favourite places to visit? Siena, Siena and Siena. Best 'find'? The fish restaurant Tre Cristi........in Siena. Friendly and helpful staff, and well cooked dishes that are to be savoured.

Beautiful rustic accommodation set in a winery and surrounding grape fields. Such a good view and enjoyed cheese and biscuits washed down by the owners wine made from the grapes we were viewing. Quick drive down into the village to catch the train to Florence, 20 minutes. Beautiful swimming pool for sunny days. Great hostess.
Ian, UK staying in Enofila. Oct 2024
The location was excellent. although there are several apartments in the building, each one has its own terrace. The view from the pool is extraordinary. There is a lot of peace around and I think it is the ideal location for relaxation and rest. Especially if you like old things and country life maybe as it is located in a vineyard that has its own winery, it would have been nice to be offered a style of wine from the house (even if it was included in the price without us knowing), it was an important thing for hospitality
Ruja, Romania staying in Enofila. Oct 2024
I visited this little wine estate in May 2021 so we have no reviews yet - these are my impressions. As always, my main focus on a first visit is on the owners and the caretakers - they will be the people looking after you when you visit so much rests on their shoulders. I met both caretakers and the owner, they couldn't have been more charming so I'm confident you'll be well looked after here. The estate has 8 apartments, we have listed three to start with, our favourites. This one, the "Wine Lover" has disabled facilities so I thought it would be a great addition.
The buildings are surrounded by vineyards that are run by the little estate, producing their own wine. THe swimming pool is set higher up the hill than the buildings so you get great views across the Arno valley towards the Chianti hills. You can walk - or drive - down to the local train station and get into the centre of Florence in under 30 minutes, which is a lovely way to explore the city and then come back to your pool and spacious apartment.

Absolutely loved this place. From the peace and tranquility to the fabulous Tuscan dinner and pizza evenings - a truly special place. Sienna only a 20 min ride away too.
Richard and family staying in Ropoli Sotto. Jul 2025
The host could not be more gracious and accommodating. Doing the on site dinners is a must as they are fun interaction and the food is great. Dinner night the sell the wine pizza night you can bring your own. The villas are spacious and clean with a rustic feel.
An amazing property!!!!
A very lovely house and garden- my personal favourite so far after many years visiting Umbria and Tuscany. Travel books etc now out of date but most people will bring their own maps, guidebooks etc. Also it would be useful to update the informationm on local trattorias/gelaterias, etc- with accurate closing days/times - e.g., the nice piazzeria/gelateria/trattoria in Civitella was closed several days in the week but we had to work this out by trial and error. Some personal recommendations on 'basic' and more 'sophisicated' places to eat would be helpful!
Nigel & family, UK staying in Guardiano. Jul 2022
We couldn’t fault the house or location. Everything was wonderful. The views from the house and the pool are spectacular. It was so hot that air conditioning would have been nice but I think it was unusually hot. We’d come back but maybe earlier in the year when it is sub 40 dc
Tim and family, UK staying in Guardiano. Jul 2022
we had a great time at Guardiano thanks.
We thought the property was fantastic – the location, pool and gardens are absolutely beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the living area worked really well for us. It was very good value for money. The following are not complaints just what they could add for very little cost (with the exception of replacing the sun loungers – that would be costly) and would make a big difference.
Nice big glass tumblers for Gin and Tonic (we are British after all 😉 ) we ended up buying some large wine glasses that we left there. Bottle of wine in fridge on arrival – nothing fancy – we arrived at 7 on Saturday evening and would have loved a drink before going out for dinner and didn’t fancy going to the supermarket immediately. Pasta machine! (I cook on holiday 😉) I should have asked beforehand – I bet Luciana and John would have been happy to lend me theirs. Pool loungers that you can turn over on – the ones there you can only tan your front – failing that, cushions to put behind your head on the sun loungers to make it easier to read a book whilst reclining. Small soaps in the bathrooms would be nice.
We loved all 3 of the restaurants we went to in Civitella. Antico Borgo on the one night it rained.
Enoteca Ristorante il Vicolo was great, bit more expensive than it’s cheap and cheerful neighbour that was also great but can’t remember the name of it so that’s not very helpful – they’re both in the same little piazza at the top of the steps when you first park and walk up to Civitella.
Luciana and John were great – very welcoming.
Definitely a property I would recommend to friends – even without any of the above additions.
Staff Comment: "Thanks Penny, I'll let Luciana know about your comments, I'm sure they can find some larger glasses for the G&Ts and I agree a bottle of wine on arrival would be welcome. Thanks again and we're delighted you enjoyed it!"
P.C. staying in Guardiano. Nov 2017
Luciana and John were fantastic, as was Guardiano! Both the house and especially the pool area left for nothing, we were so delighted all round that we have done a very rare thing, in regards to promising to return there again in some future year (we never go to the same place twice 😉).
Positive constructive feedback is hard to suggest! The only things I can offer are:
A larger draining board area (being only two of us we did not want to waste water using the dishwasher) The mattress in the blue/green room was not as high quality as in the master bedroom (noisy springs) Unfortunately some rather large and persistent wasps had nested in the watchtower so we were unable to use that during our stay (but to be expected in the country)
A thoroughly amazing place and two lovely owners!
from Dan: "Thank you for your comments - we will pass the advice on to the owners so they can act on it. Particularly getting rid of the wasps!"
S.F. staying in Guardiano. Nov 2017
Guardiano and its gardens and view are beautiful and suited us very well indeed. We loved the historic and rustic nature of the building and some of the quirkier restorations. The pool, the gardens and the chance encounters with wild boar and deer made it quite an experience for us Londoners.
We fell in love with Civitella although it really wasn't walkable because it was on road but once there it is very magical and Il Vicciolo restaurant was superb.
JoAnn Warren was brilliant at helping get us to a vet in Arezzo when one of our dogs injured her paws and giving us a heads up about a national holiday on the Friday when we were there.
There was no information in the house about recommended local restaurants or places of interest and markets/festivals etc. although lots of maps and brochures and some recommendations could be taken from the visitors book. It would be good to provide more!
J.D. and family (and dogs!) staying in Guardiano.
The cottage was idyllic, absolutely perfect, the peace, the quiet, the view, the beautiful tower where we ate every day. The swimming pool was probably the best we've ever had anywhere. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to get away from it all. We will be back.
Mr. I.G. and family, UK staying in Guardiano. Dec 2015
We had a great stay at Guardiano recently. The house has been beautifully restored and the peaceful surroundings of the gardens and immediate area was just what we were looking for. The salt water swimming pool was lovely as was the pool area. The various eating areas were excellent especially the converted loft away from the house. We had a lovely relaxing quiet stay.
Mrs. R.H. and family, UK staying in Guardiano. Apr 2015
A lovely house with many wonderful elements. The owners very much care for the house and it shows. Unbeatable views across Lake Maggiore and it’s in a very tranquil location.
Nicola staying in Ispirata. May 2024
Fantastic place for family. Excelent service and great standard. Perfect pool for families with kids. Great basecamp for visiting Pisa, Lucca, Firenze and Siena. The place is on a hill top and even in high temperatures there is slways a chilling wind.
Morten from Norway staying in Argentum. Jul 2023
A lovely place. The house is better than what you see in the pictures. All excellent. An unforgettable week.
Angela staying in Rocca. Jun 2023
Stayed with kids. The setting and accommodations were beautiful but it was the people involved who each made the trip truly memorable. Their timely responses to our multiple enquiries and requests made the planning and execution of this once in a lifetime trip for 25 family members (ages 4 to 80) seamless. There were plenty of opportunities for group activities in the various luxurious rooms, that easily accommodated the entertainment, dance parties, workouts, Easter hunts, trivia events that we had planned. There were also many quiet locations, both inside and outdoors for some "alone time". All in all, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience.
Lesley staying in Villa Cosimo. Apr 2024
Here is what my husband and I, and all of our friends and family who joined us, loved about this experience.
Quality rental and holiday experience that exceeded our every expectation. The villa is better than the pics, and a few highlights include: fully stocked kitchen that was clean, organized and easy to use; the living area is extremely comfortable with excellent seating and enough for everyone; several areas for dining that can seat everyone; bedrooms and bathrooms that are well stocked, clean and comfortable; the pool and area around it are everything anyone could ask for; and, the view is GORGEOUS! A few ideas to make this exceedingly comfortable, enjoyable villa better would be simply more plastic glasses to take drinks to the pool area, and wine glasses that are not so nice (thicker glass). That said, we weren't charged for broken glass. This villa is operated by real professionals. For the price this is the best rental we've ever encountered.
Judy M, USA staying in La Selva. Sep 2023
Fantastic old house in a secluded location.
E. H. staying in La Selva. Aug 2024
We want to express our appreciation to the fantastic staff at Lornano, Malvasia. They were very anxious to meet any of our requests and answered questions providing us with locations of restaurants and groceries. The location is quite central to many of the hill towns in Tuscany and close proximity to the highway.
We certainly enjoyed tasting the wines!
Ruth Jackson staying in Malvasia. Sep 2022
I rented Malvasia for one week and was there by myself - I enjoyed that week as I had an opportunity to contemplate as I wanted. The facility was great as was the countryside.
Angelita was kind, charming and extremely helpful. I then rented all four villas for the second week and had a changing cast of family and friends over the two weeks. Everyone loved it immensely. The physical settings and Angelita's and Silvio's support made for a wonderful time for everyone. The wine, of course, assisted.
Having all four villas allowed for an intermingling of people, some of whom knew each other and some meeting for the first time and it all worked well, in large part because of the warmth of the physical setting. My single complaint is about the WiFi which was a bit challenged. A pain in the modern era but hardly the biggest issue in life. I would recommend Fattoria Lornano without reservation and if I can organize it, would do it again. All the cottages met or exceeded expectations.
Mr. P.B. and friends, Canada staying in Malvasia. Sep 2015
We did have a lovely time in Lornano and the surrounding area but I have to say that Malvasia is suffering from quite a few damp problems particularly in the basement areas (kitchen and bathroom) and although it did not spoil our stay at the Fattoria it is not something you would expect at what is after all quite an expensive rental, everything else was just about perfect and Angioletta provided a great tour and tasting session to boot - the Lornano chianti is actually very good!
In terms of local restaurants then Ristorante Enoteca is recommended albeit having a limited menu that could be varied a bit between lunch and evening meals but in general we would suggest that unless visitors intend cooking we would recommend they take their main meals at lunchtime when visiting the local and very attractive villages most of which have some very good restaurants with prices to suit all. Once you are back at Lornano after a long day out, it is a long trek out to try and find a good local restaurant - Badesse is not one of them though!
That being said, we had a great time with good weather, beautiful scenery in a very relaxing and quiet environment, which is why Lornano caught our imagination when we started to look for a place in Tuscany.
Thank you again for all your help in organising the break, if it wasn’t for the damp problem there would be five stars all round.
Mrs. L.K. and family, UK staying in Malvasia. Aug 2014
The house was great, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We were able to visit Siena in 10 mins and Florence in 45, or just hang around and play in the wonderful swimming pool.
They dropped just one star on erratic hot water supply and less than perfectly comfy beds.
Mrs. V.R. and family, UK staying in malvasia. Aug 2013
We stayed here is summer 2010. The property was very comfy, clean and a great location. The wine and olive oil from the vineyard on site was fantastic. The owners were very accommodating in showing us around the wine cellar. We loved the restaurant in the village. The pool was great to cool off in. The bus to Siena was also very handy. Overall a fantastic place.
M.F. from UK staying in Malvaisa. Jul 2010
I have been holidaying in Tuscany for several years and without doubt the most memorable trip was our visit to Malvasia at Lornano last July. The villa is in an ideal location for exploring all of Tuscany's treasures - you are minutes away from the main Siena to Florence motorway with San Gimignano and the fabulous Chianti towns of Radda and Gaiole also within easy reach.
However if you want to completely chill out and relax the villa is situated in the idylic hamlet of Lornano which is set in some of the most stunning countryside Tuscany has to offer. The villa itself was beautifully decorated with everything and more you can expect from a Tuscan villa. It is also a working vinyard which produces fabulous Chianti wine, grappa and olive oil - no visit to Lornano can be complete without a tour to the wine cellars and a tasting. You can also expect the warmest of welcomes at Lornano as the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and do whatever they can to help you get the most from your holiday. A
lso give the restaurant in the town a go - you won't be disappointed. There are too many reasons to explain why I will be going back to Lornano in the very near future but I can assure you I will be and my advice to you is to take up this Invitation to Tuscany - you won't be disappointed.
Mr. J.H. and family, UK staying in Malvasia. Jul 2009
Wonderful, tastefully furnished, clean, spacious Tuscan villa. Big and nice clean pool with a fantastic view. Kind and polite host. We had a lot of fun!
It is an ideal place for family and friends. The area is a nice small town with hospitable Italian people. Easy access to Florence, Pisa and the coast, only 45 minutes by car.
Borka from Hungary staying in Verdino. Jul 2024
We were an extended family of 8 staying in Docciole. Anna the owner was very accommodating and helpful, and always available to answer questions, but kept a very low profile during our stay. We were also allowed a late check out to fit in with our return flight which was much appreciated.
The traditional Tuscan villa was lovely, set on the hill side, surrounded by trees and vineyards and wonderfully quiet.
Only a 20 minute walk into the beautiful town of Radda where there were plenty of restaurants and bars - useful as driving anywhere in Chianti is a slow process on hilly windy roads. We took advantage of the lovely outdoor eating area and traditional barbecue to enjoy the weather. The pool was also A lovely villa in a beautiful location in the heart of Chianti.
David Fail staying in Docciole. Sep 2025
We chose Docciole for its facilities, characterful appearance, setting and location within walking distance to Radda in Chianti. It delivered all we needed and more for a relaxing holiday immersed in Tuscany.
The living accommodation is traditional, full of character and provides options for a large group to get together or split up and enjoy their own space. We enjoyed making use of the large, well equipped kitchen to prepare meals using local produce.
We particularly loved the outdoor space - whether cooling off in the pool, eating under the shade of the vine covered pergola, cooking over wood, walking the olive grove observing the butterflies, birds and insects or just sitting on a grassy bank looking across the wooded valley towards glorious sunsets. Sighting occasional wild boar with their young and deer just topped it all off.
Radda has everything you need and more from a historic, bustling local town in Tuscany. If you choose, the walk really is a gentle twenty minutes and there are stunning views on the way. We had excellent restaurant meals, did wine tasting and found friendly local cafes and shops - all on the doorstep.
Richard and family staying in Docciole. Jul 2025
Docciole is a beautiful family villa, full of charm and character, which we adored. It has a quirky, homely feel with Anna Maria and her family being fabulous hosts; friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The villa’s highlights are the outdoor eating space, pool and kitchen, all perfect for a multi-generational holiday. The beds are comfy with soft cotton sheets and the home is well stocked with everything needed, including a traditional cured meat slicer, a novelty which proved very useful given the selection from the deli! The relaxed town offers a small, but good selection of shops, cafes and bars, along with a municipal tennis court which we used a few times. The walk into town is along a road with no footpath on sections which, coupled with the speed of some drivers, needs careful attention especially if walking with children. There are a number of marked hiking routes from the town, which are well signposted.
We had an amazing holiday and loved the villa and its family and history…..fascinating and beautiful.
Invitation to Tuscany provided a gold star service, and helped me choose Docciole after listening to my specific requests and then arranged for a private wine tour of the area & groceries to be delivered on our arrival day. We have recommended you to our friends, and if we return to Tuscany, will be in touch.
Marc and family staying in Docciole. Jul 2025
We have enjoyed a fantastic week in this big family house: 6 adults, 5 kids and a dog have loved the surroundings ☀️😘 Our hosts Anna Maria and Evelina have been super helpful and we have enjoyed the wonderful kitchen and outdoor seeting. We can also highly recommmend having a local chef (Mama) create an authentic local dinner 👌 Ciao 🇮🇹😘

Amazing house — beautifully furnished and incredibly spacious! It stayed cool inside even during the hottest days, which was a big plus. The location is ideal: just a short walk from the charming town of Radda, so no need to use the car every day.
The kitchen and dining area are so well equipped, you could easily host a dinner for an entire football team! The pool is another highlight — stunning views over the Tuscan hills, simply unforgettable.
And the hosts? Absolutely lovely. You couldn’t ask for kinder or more helpful people. They were always there when we needed anything, without ever being intrusive. We had an early flight and didn’t get to say a proper goodbye — which only gives us more reason to return soon!
Already dreaming of coming back for a longer stay 😄
Alix and family staying in Docciole. Jun 2025
We just wanted to send you a heartfelt thank you for everything — our stay in Tuscany was absolutely perfect!
The house was simply amazing: beautifully furnished, cool and comfortable even in the heat, and spacious enough to host a dinner for a football team! The pool with its stunning view was a highlight, and the location — just a short walk from Radda — made it easy to enjoy the town without needing the car every day.
And of course, we can’t say enough good things about the hosts — they were so kind and welcoming. We had an early flight and didn’t get to say a proper goodbye, but we’re already looking forward to coming back for a longer stay!
A special thank you to your team as well — it was more than a pleasure to book with you. We truly appreciated your time, your availability throughout, and the lovely postcard. Such thoughtful service really makes all the difference.
We’ll gladly recommend both the house and your agency to friends and family.

Fantastic location with nice views and very good service from the landlord.
Ulla and family staying in Docciole. May 2025
The vacation for our family fit the bill. I was looking to live like a local and away from big cities. The views are spectacular and the town was very quaint with a lot of places to dine. And there are many small towns not too far away in Tuscany to visit.
Our hosts/owners were very gracious, interesting and kind. The only thing that saddened me was that we didn’t have the opportunity to say thank you and goodbye. So, if by some chance they are able to see this: GRAZIE MILLE from Susana e famiglia!
Susan, US staying in Docciole. Sep 2024
Lovely house and location. The owners were on site and very warm and welcoming. We had a nice dinner with them in the local village.
The house is peaceful but within walking distance of Radda which is a picture postcard perfect Tuscan village with good restaurants and high- quality shops and amenities.

The location, the property, the privacy and especially the hosts Anna Marie and Luciano. From the time we arrived to the time we left they could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Thank you for a special experience.

We all enjoyed our stay at Docciole immensely, There were activities for all of us to participate in and it was a delight to share in evening meals outside. It was also well equipped for people to do their own thing occasionally if they so wished. We had a BBQ one evening helped by Luciano .Anna was always there to advise us and recommend cafes etc We began to feel part of the family by the end of the week.
Mu & extended family! staying in Docciole. Aug 2023
We had a wonderful stay at Docciole. The home is spacious and fit our group of 11 comfortably. The outdoor space had beautiful views and we all enjoyed the pool on the hot days. Although there was no AC, the weather got cooler at night and so we slept comfortably. The city is a short walk from the house where there are cute shops, restaurants and cafés. Anna is a wonderful host who was always available if we needed anything and she suggested great places to visit.

Authentic 600-year-old house with lots of coziness and space.
The host couple are very nice and helpful.
Karina & family from Denmark staying in Docciole. Jul 2023
We absolutely loved our time at Docciole. You will be welcomed by lovely Anna who’s family home it is. It is a typical Tuscan stone farmhouse with a lovely homely feeling and loads of space for living inside and out. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor kitchen under a grape vine pergola and the swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. It is exceptionally well equipped for cooking and eating Anna is a perfect host and responded to the small issues that cropped up. It is a short walk to charming Radda in Chianti with spectacular views across Tuscan countryside, some tourist shops and a useful Coop supermarket. It is perfectly situated to explore the Chianti region if you’re into wine, medieval villages or the spectacular Sienna and Florence. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Owners and service staff extremely helpful and doping their utmost to make the stay pleasant for children and adults. Wonderful surroundings.
Birgitte and family staying in Docciole. Jul 2022
I just came back from 3 weeks in Tuscany at the fabulous Docciole property in Chianti. The house is wonderful with a large family dwelling along with 4 private separate apartments. All are well furnished and all have well-equipped kitchens.
The property is beautiful, the pool and breakfast spaces grand and the owners are lovely ( Their barbecue dinner is not to be missed). I brought my large family over and we had the time of our lives. Thank you.
J.F. and family from USA staying in Docciole. Jun 2018
We had a great time with our friends at Docciole. The house worked out well for us, it was charming, roomy and comfy. There was one day when we had some roof leaks due to rain and wind, and a pool issue due to high winds, but it was taken care of by Luciano immediately.
Luciano and Anna could not have been nicer! They put on 2 enormous feasts for us in their "atelier" and a wonderful time was had by all. Luciano was always around to answer questions, and I was happy to be able to practice my Italian, though I am sure we could have managed in English, had it been necessary.
We cooked several meals at Docciole and had no problem finding the proper kitchen gadgets & appliances. There was a filter coffee machine but it was extremely slow, so if I were to come back I would ask for a new one, I think. Other than that, everything was fine.
As far as recommendations go, we had a very nice meal (set menu for 12) at La Bottega di Volpaia. Carla did a great job of organizing our menu and overseeing our evening.
Another special place we went to was the Castello di Ama vineyard in Gaiole. We did the wine and art tour, which was led by a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Interesting pieces, beautiful space and nice lunch too.
A special mention needs to go to Luciano and Sandra, the lovely couple who own the enoteca on the main road in Radda. They helped Luciano cook for us and were very kind whenever we popped in their store to ask a question or needed something.
We loved the Chianti region. We would love to return to Docciole with our family, probably not next year, but at some point. In any case, if the destination is Tuscany we will surely look up your agency.
Thanks for your attentive service. We appreciated it!
T&L K from UK staying in Docciole. Sep 2017
Daria was the best host. She was so welcoming and so helpful. Our time there was the best we could have hoped for. The villa itself has all of the accomadations you could want on a vacation. 10/10 recommend.
Luke, Texas staying in Guardiolo. Aug 2024
We absolutely loved our stay at Guardiolo as 3 couples and a baby. The villa was beautiful and luxurious, but also great value for money. Daria was very helpful with check in, recommendations and booking a wine tasting for us. The surroundings are beautiful, the local town is within walking distance to supermarket and a few small bars/ restaurants. Good hiking/ running routes through the vineyard. We also drove to Palaia for a lovely dinner with spectacular views over the hillside. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Anna staying in Guardiolo. Jul 2024
Absolut empfehlenswert! Unbedingt bei Savini Tartufi Trüffel kaufen, nur 3 Kilometer entfernt

The villa is incredibly beautiful, beautifully furnished, with a huge property surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Everything is super clean, well-maintained, and in great condition. The pool is a lovely size and is cleaned every day. You arrive and immediately relax. You receive a very warm welcome, and any questions you have about restaurants, excursions, or anything else during your stay are answered promptly. Highly recommended! We had a wonderful holiday in Casa Carina, what a fabulous villa! Comfortable stylish with the most magnificent views. Mario was invaluable! He welcomed us and guided us up the steep but manageable path to the idyllic venue set on two levels with the pool which was a delight to regularly jump in and cool down. Our week was so peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable, Mario gave us such a warm and kind helpful welcome. Thank you Mario! Would highly recommend. A 5 star experience.
Alison, UK staying in Casa Carina. Aug 2024
We stayed a week at Casa Carina in early October, and had a wonderful time. The villa itself is spacious and charming (save the disconcerting ceramic mask on the wall), and its best feature is the covered veranda with a beautiful view across the valley to the nearby villages of Colelungo and Morre. I thoroughly recommend relaxing there as the sun sets, sipping wine and listening to the local wildlife (we heard cicadas, crickets, owls, other birds of prey, and wild boar) and watching the bats chase down the insects.
Mario is a lovely host and could not do enough for us. HIs wife made us some delicious lasagne and tiramisu which were waiting for us on our arrival along with a couple of bottles of local wine. Mario also offered to stock the villa with supplies from the local supermarket if we had so wished. He brought us firewood when we wanted it, and kindly took the time to make recommendations of local walks and restaurants, and to walk with us about the local agriculture (olives and vineyards). We happenned to be there around the start of the grape harvest, so he obtained a bottle of mosto from his friend and brought it to us (it was very tasty).
I have very few negative comments about our stay: The fixings of the toilet seat had been broken by a previous guest, and it would have been nice if the seat did not move about so much, but I believe that Mario was still looking for the necessary parts to fix it, so that's understandable. I would echo the comments made by other guests about the driveway. It takes about 8 minutes to get from the house to the main road, and he driveway is steep and heavily rutted in places, covered with loose stones and dust. We had a front-wheel drive rental car, which coped with it all, but I am glad the rental car came to us with considerable pre-existing scratches and dents, because I did not have to worry too much about chipping the paintwork on it. I would not have wanted to drive a shiny new car up and down that driveway, and rear-wheel drive would be a no-no. Apart from laying rough concrete for the length of the driveway, I'm not sure there's much that Mario could do about it. Overall, we had a wonderful week, thanks in no small part to Mario's kindness and readiness to help. I have no hesitation in recommending Casa Carina to all. But Mario, please get rid of the ceramic baby's-face mask to the right of the fireplace; I'm still having nightmares about it! ;-)
Andrew, UK staying in Casa Carina. Sep 2024
Casa Carina was everything we hoped it would be.
It’s a wonderful, peaceful, beautiful location. Despite the heat of August, the house wasn’t too hot.
Mario was an excellent host - he helped us with the drive leading up to the house, and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He even helped with an issue with our car, and gave our girls the opportunity to meet his horses.
Altogether we had a wonderful time and could not fault it.
Priscilla and family from the UK staying in Casa Carina. Aug 2024
Casa Carina is a smaller villa full of rustic charm, located well off the beaten track. We had a super week here, surrounded by the sights and sounds of unspoiled nature - in particular there were lots of butterflies. The pool was ideal, very refreshing on a hot day and the villa had pleasant outdoor spaces to relax and unwind, along with pretty walks on the doorstep. There was ample room for the four of us (good to have the two en-suite bathrooms) and we experienced it all in some of the best and worst weather. We were glad we to have a pack of cards and decent TV with Casting option when the rain was pouring down and the wind was howling!
Mario was an excellent host, always responsive and able to offer help and advice as required. We were very grateful to have a selection of wine and groceries waiting for us on our arrival after a long day of travelling. The kitchen could have been slightly better equipped but it was adequate for our needs. We cooked a few meals ourselves and also enjoyed eating out at a couple of excellent local restaurants (Osteria La Cruccola in Acqualoreto and Kairos in Izzalini).
We made trips to Todi (the nearest town), Assisi, Orvieto and Florence (a long but brilliant day). The duomo in Orvieto was particularly awe-inspiring! We visited Trebotti organic winery on our return from Orvieto for a fascinating tour and tasting experience. Definitely recommend!
Do heed the advice regarding the track to the villa - it has some extremely steep gradients to negotiate which are not for the faint hearted! A 4x4 would cope fine (would definitely recommend), but if you have a front wheel drive hatchback like we did then you might want to disable the traction control when you leave the main road. We got used to it though and it's worth the effort for the view when you get there - all part of the adventure!
Angela from UK staying in Casa Carina. Aug 2023
The setting is beautiful, very picturesque.
We stayed in Villa Massimo, clean and well appointed, there were four of us, myself my wife and our two boys; two in each bedroom, the boys beds were to be made up as singles but were set up as a double; this worked in our favour as we took the room without en-suite as the views were fantastic from the back bedroom.
When we booked the villa we looked at a large number of properties in the area, one of the reasons we chose Montestigliano was the listed activities, shown on their website. Unfortunately there was a large party celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary and as such only one of the two listed themed nights took place and no other activities were scheduled for our week, this was very disappointing and took the shine off of our stay, this would be a five star review if this had not happened.
We should have been notified that this was the case thus managing our expectations or allowing us to choose another location.
If we were going back to Tuscany I would definitely consider going back to Montestigliano, but I would check prior to booking; ensuring that there was nothing organised such as a wedding, anniversary or reunion to avoid disappointment
Would I recommend Montestigliano- yes, I would also recommend checking what’s on with them first , beautiful location, lovely setting nice accommodation and the one night that was organised was great fun
Julie and family staying in Massimo. Jun 2025
We stayed 5 weeks at Montestigliano this Fall. Our experience was magical. Our villa, Casa Massimo, was a delight - modern, spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, quiet and allowed spectacular views. Francisco, the manager/concierge could not have been more helpful. The location is convenient to Siena and there are nearby villages with outstanding restaurants and all the essentials one might need. We will be staying at Montestigliano again, without doubt!!
Mike staying in Casa Massimo. Sep 2023
Montestigliano was recommended to me by a friend, who said great things about her stay there in 2010. I looked at other sites in the general area, but nothing seemed better than her recommendation. The villa had everything we needed for a very comfortable week's stay in the Tuscan countryside, and bucket-loads of charm as well. The whole estate is picture-book perfect. There are numerous walking trails, including one to the nearest village where good coffee can be had. 2 pools (one designated for families) operate in the warmer months. We did not miss having a TV. Good WiFi kept us connected with the world (when we wanted to be). The estate is a short drive from the nearest small town for essential supplies, and less than 30 minutes' drive from Siena - a magical place that we went back to a number of times over the week. The opportunity to join other guests for a traditional Sienese dinner was fantastic. The estate's own olive oil is a wonderful product, which we made use of while we were there (and would have liked to take home, except our baggae limits wouldn't allow it!). Highly recommend this estate - I doubt you will have a better experience, and staff will do everything they can to make your stay memorable!
Anonymous guests, Australia staying in Massimo. Dec 2012This trip was all the more wonderful with the addition of your great energies. We missed you on the days we were out touring! When we remember this faboulous trip, we will always think of you. Hopefully our paths cross again. This was truly unforgettable thank you so much for everything. This has been the best vacation of my life. You made it wonderful than I could ever imagined – your wonderful meals and hospitality were incredible. I hope you come to visit us in Arizona! Thank you for an amazing two weeks. I loved every moment

This beautiful villa does not disappoint. From the moment you walk through the large double doors, you are greeted with stunning furnishings, a stocked kitchen, incredibly comfortable bedding and plenty of bathrooms. The patio, landscaping and plunge pool just add to the allure of this little slice of heaven. We did not want to leave. But when we did, we were just a short drive from vineyards, restaurants and other gorgeous towns located in the area.
Karlie, US staying in Casa Etrusca. Jul 2024
Great location that allowed us day trips to more than 10 different towns and cities. Excellent design and decoration of the house and all amenities. Air con worked, very functional kitchen and all bedrooms and bathrooms very comfortable. Easy to access washing and various relaxation areas made it a pleasure to stay in. Concierge Paola was a huge help in arranging restaurants and all her recommendations were fabulous!

We had a wonderful stay at the villa. Rosado made us feel so welcome and had great suggestions for visits. The villa is beautiful. It has an excellent location for visiting other towns. The views are gorgeous and hot tub and pool excellent. The kitchen is amply equipped for 6 avid cooks! We can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful villa! The roses, the view, the pool, the house...all absolutely wonderful! Rosado was the most gracious host, offering to make dinner reservations, checking in to see if we needed anything and making amazing recommendations for day trips. We would love to return!

We (family of five) had a great time in this very special environment. It was like going back in time when entering the appartment (though it had WiFi, TV, a modern kitchen etc). Very good location to visit Venice and other nice towns like Treviso. Also a great pool to relax and spend the day when not going out.

Stayed 5 nights in Casa Luisa with 5 friends and it was wonderful. The views are breathtaking and accommodations just perfect. Francesco and all the staff were very welcoming and I’m so glad we made it for pizza night. Damiano is an accountant by day and a chef and karaoke singer by night. Needless to say there was eating, drinking, singing and dancing throughout the evening. A wonderful place to stay.

I visited Piaggia in May 2021 - it's a new property hence no visitor reviews. The houses (there are three altogether, set in different spots on the large wine estate) and the whole estate are immaculately looked after and have been carefully converted into luxury villas. This is a magical spot, the giant umbrella pine at the far end of the house gives it a real sense of space and the grounds have been carefully thought out to give different areas for everybody to relax. Inside the house itself, the decor and facilities are excellent, again giving the feeling that the owners have thought really carefully about what their guests might need. The free air-conditioning and the possibility of heating the pool also make this house stand out against the competition.

We had a wonderful stay at San Michele. The villa is a magnificent, spacious building steeped in history and in a private location on top of a hill. Beds and linen were excellent, together with bathroom facilities.
The pool was stunning - best we have ever experienced in a villa (and we have stayed at a lot!). Perfect for my two little grandsons who loved the pool toys. The outside areas were amazing with fantastic views.
The owner, Patrizia, was the perfect host. She was extremely efficient and professional and on several occasions went the extra mile to accommodate our needs. Thank you to all the lovely staff at Invitation to Tuscany for your caring and personal approach - you made our stay a very special one.

We loved staying at San Michele - it was a perfect place for our family holiday and the villa, location and welcome we received all exceeded our expectations.
Very well equipped and comfortable accommodation, with plenty of outdoor space and just a short walk to the swimming pool. Being at the top of a hill, there were wonderful views all around the property, with sunny areas to sit but also plenty of cooler, shady parts especially under the loggia where there's also an outdoor table for dining.
A few points worth noting:
The owners of the property, who live in the house next door, were extremely welcoming and thoughtful, and generous with their time and attention. They are there if needed and always responded quickly, yet the villa still felt very private. Now we just need to work out when we can go back!!

We were relocated from another property that did not function so had no previous experience or knowledge of San Michele. We were all very impressed with the property and it suited our needs perfectly: Lots of space inside and outside, animals the kids could watch, a wonderful pool and a very nice owner ready to guide and help us.

San Michele was absolutely amazing, the grounds were incredible and so well kept, pool area superb, hosts so helpful and two delicious meals with them and vegetables from their veggie patch. Plus a tour of their wine cellar, quite something else. The layout of the villa suited us all so well, plenty of room to have our own space! The 18 month old loved going to see the animals in the morning and evening. Great value for money.

We were very happy and satisfied with our stay at San Michele. The beauty of the place and friendly welcome from Patricia made us feel so at home. We enjoyed Arezzo, shopping in Pam and some restaurants in town. We found an interesting steakhouse called Mama Mia! No pizza for kids but there's 🍝. A shopping center with Decathlon and Coop grocery store had nice selection of food and drinks. An outlet 29 km direction Sienna had good selection of brand in clothings, shoes and more.

We had a wonderful time at San Michele! The property itself is wonderful. We enjoyed the building itself which worked very well for our extended-family group. We loved walking the gardens and visiting the animals and our hosts were terrific. It was also great that the train in Arezzo was so convenient for day trips. Even though we had a rental car, sometimes the train was easier than dealing with parking at our destination. Things we loved the most: Cooking class offered by Patrizia and Pietro – this was so much fun! We all loved the experience and the wonderful food! Trip to Florence by train Two great restaurants in Arezzo: Pappa e Cena (Via Romana, 133, 52100 Arezzo AR, Italy) and Osteria Dei Mercanti (Via di Ser Petraccolo, 52100 Arezzo AR, Italy)
The one tip we have, at least for American guests is to rent a car with automatic transmission. The road up the hill is steep and narrow in places and we were glad to have an automatic, even though we know how to drive a manual transmission.

I visited San Michele at the end of a long day's driving; I had been out seeing a lot of houses around Tuscany and was tired. The welcome that Patrizia and Pietro gave me, coupled with one of the best views I have ever seen and a swimming pool perfectly placed to take advantage of it soon gave me my energy back. This is a building on a site redolent with history, lovingly nursed back to life after decades of being hidden under brambles - ask P & P to show you the photographs of what the site looked like when they bought it! This is a house made to be enjoyed - there are myriad delights down in the plains toward Arezzo and in the hills beyond, but this is a place where I would want to just lie by the pool, relax and soak in the astounding view, day after day. A favourite!

We stayed at San Michele in Arezzo in Autumn and just had a fabulous time. The villa was everything it should be. The rooms were large, the views were fantastic and our host and hostess were incredibly helpful and welcoming. There were two washing machines and drying racks. The pool was fantastic. Our hosts, Patrizia and Pietro did a wonderful homemade pizza dinner for us, another fabulous dinner in their cantina and also invited us to a private party in their home. The linens were changed weekly including our comforter. Softer and or extra pillows would be nice. The villa was at the top of a small mountain and overlooked the entire town. The directions to the villa on our GPS were great. It is narrow in places but we drove a large van that held seven and it is doable. There is also an electric gate to go through so you could not possibly feel safer. The air conditioning worked as well as american a/c but we didn't need it except for the first few days. We slept with the windows open and it was heavenly. Windows were screened, but we did not notice any flies or mosquitos while there. There is an absolutely amazing bakery not far from the villa called Panificio Pandemonio in Arezzo. Their almond biscotti, raisin coffeecake, and breads are unbeatable - Don't miss it. There is also a fabulous grocery store, Ipercoop, that matches any from the U.S. Go to the deli meat section and splurge. All those wonderful meats and cheeses are half the price you'd pay back home.

We had a fantastic stay at San Michele. It was a really special place and Patrizia and Pedro fantastic hosts! To be honest, we didn't venture far as it was so lovely there. Would happily recommend it to people and hope to return!

Wow! On our recent visit we were amazed by the villa's setting, its breathtaking views, and the pool which shone like a gem in the night sky. We were impressed by the quality of the interior, especially its lovely linens and chic bathrooms. The pergola was a favourite spot where we enjoyed breakfasting and a fun pizza evening; we even ate some bits from the lovely vegetable garden as guests are invited to do. Patrizia and Pietro were perfect hosts at an incredible dinner in their wonderful home with a view you must see to believe - we loved staying at San Michele and know you will too!

We returned after 12 years, and almost forgot how special of a place it is. We were two families and renter Villa Donati for 4 nights as it was off season. The house and surroundings are amazing. We had the pleasure of having an amazing 4 course dinner, a true highlight. Can't recommend enough.

We are members of a social dance group and 12 of us stayed here a few weeks ago. This is the second time we have stayed there and it is a wonderful place. Tuscany is beautiful and this villa is in the middle of all this beauty. It is exactly what we were expecting from a Tuscan villa. Rustic feel; amazing family who own it and the manager Francesco is a wonderful host for anyone staying there. He is most attentive and looks after everyone. The views first thing in the morning over the valley are stunning, especially as the mist clears. We were very lucky and the weather was superb.
