Podere Enea enjoys spectacular views of Pienza, the birthplace of Enea Piccolomini that he had transformed into Ideal Renaissance Town when he was made Pope in the Fifteenth Century. Today this beautiful old building sits like a sloop on the rolling waves of the hills in Val d'Orcia valley, providing a luxurious base from which to explore medeival Tuscany.
Close to the medieval town Monticchiello, Podere Enea lies on the route of the "Via Francigena", the millenary pilgrimage route from Northern Europe to Rome. This Tuscan farmhouse lay in ruins when it was discovered by the Gonzi family, its current owners, and restored to the high standard that makes it a wonderful Tuscan holiday villa.
The extensive lawn affords long-ranging views around the farmhouse, while rose bushes, lavender and rosemary frame the private swimming pool. A covered dining space with fireplace, pizza oven, barbeque, table and chairs will let guests enjoy unforgettable Tuscan sunsets. During restoration, the owners’ main aim was to respect the original features of the building; rooms with wooden-beamed ceilings are well-sized and open to the most beautiful views of the valley, with wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees.
Podere Enea is listed under the following categories:
