Around Ombra
Strategically located in the Maremma, a coastal area in southern Tuscany that extends over plains and hills bordering the Tyrrhenian sea, Ombra is the ideal spot from where to explore nearby medieval villas, unspoilt beaches enclosed by cliffs, and nature park.
A 15 minutes’ drive from the villa will take you to the historic town of Grosseto, known as the political and cultural centre of the Maremma. About 35 kilometres south lies Mount Argentario, a peninsula connected with the mainland by three spits of land which form two lagoons, the Laguna di Ponente and the Laguna di Levante with two main villages, Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
Connecting Monte Argentario to Ansedonia, La Feniglia beach is truly a gem along the Maremma coast. Its expansive stretch of dunes spanning approximately 7 kilometers, crystal-clear waters and Mediterranean pinewoods make it especially attractive for families.
The Uccellina Nature Park, a sanctuary of diverse landscapes encompassing coastline, hills, marshes and forests, is a 45 minutes’ drive from the villa. Visitors can traverse its hiking trails on foot, cycle through its scenic vistas, or embark on a horseback adventure.
For a soothing retreat, the hot springs of Saturnia and Petriolo, popular destinations year-round, are just an hour away by car.
