This large stone Tuscan villa sits on a hill west of Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo, and is perfectly positioned to take in the views over the Arno valley. Carefully restored by the owners for their own use, it's now available for rent, with space for 6 guests, plus a small one.
Surrounded by its own private and fenced grounds, largely planted with olive groves, it has a private pool and a covered outdoor space for al-fresco dining and family barbecues.
Villa Panicale is listed under the following categories:
On the ground floor, turning right you'll find a large, well-equipped kitchen with a beautiful marble sink, carved out of a single block of marble. Beyond the kitchen there is a long dining room, with french doors opening to a shaded spot behind the house. On the left there is a cosy living room focused on a large fireplace, while further left there is a more solar living room, flooded with light from the large french doors that lead to the furnished patio area. The ground floor also has a bathroom so you don't have to climb the stairs.
Upstairs the are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has a mezzanine floor with a single bed on it, this is perfect for an older child or an extra guest and brings the total beds to 7.
Outside, the private pool enjoys the same beautiful views as the house, and is well furnished with umbrellas and sun-beds. Between the house and the pool there is an outdoor cooking area, with a barbecue for wonderful al-fresco meals.
Villa Panicale is west of Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo, and north of Empoli, in the Arno valley. The closest villages are Vitolini, with a little grocery store, or Castellina and Limite, in the valley, and there are plenty of good restaurants dotted around the area.
